The Brown Derby Hat Shop in Universal Studios Florida has reopened as a limited-time prop shop, replacing the Williams of Hollywood Prop Shop that permanently closed this summer.
The Brown Derby Hat Shop was closed from March 2020 (when the rest of Universal Orlando Resort closed) until August 2021. But it closed again soon after its reopening and Universal has been using it for storage. Construction walls went up around the store a few weeks ago and the hat-shaped shop was repainted. Now the Brown Derby Hat Shop sign has been reinstalled (the awning entrance is gone).
A new A-frame sign declares the hat shop is The Prop Shop for a “limited time only!”
Inside are, as promised, real props from various Universal Orlando Resort attractions and events.
Behind the register, we recognized this spider-shaped scarecrow from the 2022 Scarecrow Stalk.
You can still take home the Shrek 4-D Magic Mirror.
A sign from the theater-themed summer Tribute Store wishes a happy birthday to Gregory.
Looks like one sign for the Green & Red Coconut Club didn’t work out.
There are even full (faux) arcade games.
The props range from small to large, all perfect for a unique and rare souvenir.
Here are the signs from the Scarecrow Stalk.
Take home the electric chair photo op sign from the Halloween Horror Nights 31 Tribute Store for $175.
And a banner advertising the Bride of Frankenstein from the Dead Coconut Club.
We don’t know how long this prop shop will remain open or if a permanent prop shop will eventually replace it. Stay tuned to Universal Parks News Today for more information.
