Water, water everywhere! Water bottle refill stations continue to appear throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, all a part of Disney’s efforts to make a positive impact on the environment. Disney’s goal, as they grow their business, is to protect the planet while delivering a positive environmental legacy for future generations.
In an effort to be more water conscious and continue to reduce the amount of plastic that gets put into the environment, Disney continues to install water bottle refill stations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. We found these water bottle refill stations at EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom.
EPCOT International Gateway
We found this water bottle refill station at the EPCOT International Gateway next to the Disney Skyliner at International Gateway. It is just past the covered entrance and next to the gender-neutral restroom.
There are two traditional water fountains, however, the one on the right also features an additional area to refill a water bottle.
Each of these water bottle refill stations is easy to use. Remove the lid to the water bottle and simply place it under the nozzle seen above the outline of a bottle against the back. Press the large button on the back main panel and release when the bottle is full.
Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café – Magic Kingdom
Over at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in the Magic Kingdom, water fountain/water bottle refill stations can be found between the bays.
These are slightly different than some of the others found throughout Walt Disney World, as they were installed back in the summer of 2019. These water bottle refill stations are automatic. Once you place your bottle in front of the bottle outline it triggers a sensor and water will automatically begin flowing. Once your bottle is full, remove it and the water will stop.
Showcase Plaza near Port of Entry – EPCOT
We found this water bottle refill station across from the Hawai’i Marketplace located on Showcase Plaza near Port of Entry.
Connections Café – EPCOT
Here is a set of water fountains and another automatic water bottle refilling station located at the Connections Café. We found this one in a small area to the right of the restrooms – close to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction.
This is from Disney’s 2030 Environmental Goals Program:
“Beginning in 2018, we set a series of commitments to eliminate single-use plastic straws, plastic stirrers, and polystyrene cups at all owned and operated locations across the globe, to transition to refillable in-room amenities in our hotels and on our cruise ships, and to reduce the number of plastic shopping bags in our owned and operated parks and on our cruise lines.
As a result, we have eliminated over 200 million plastic straws and stirrers, completed [the] removal of polystyrene cups, reduced plastics in over 15,000 of our guest rooms by 80 percent by replacing all disposable toiletries with bulk amenities and
minimized plastic merchandise bags.”
Plastics in the natural environment pose a serious threat to the health of our ecosystems, and addressing this issue is a priority
for Disney. We are committed to being part of the solution and collaborating with partners around the world to prevent plastic leakage into nature,” continues Disney.
