NEWS: McDonald’s Is Testing a New Store Run Entirely by Robots

While we love all things Disney food here at DFB, we just kinda really like, well, FOOD in general!

No more human contact!

We try to keep up with all the latest fast food trends, which is why we have to ask: Did Tony Stark design this new McDonald’s location? While the golden arches aren’t being traded in for blue arc reactors, McDonald’s is bringing in some new tech. You won’t believe who’s serving up those delicious golden french fries and more at a location in Texas!

McDonald’s is testing a new concept in which food is cooked, packaged, and delivered to diners by robots, according to Newsweek. This is their first restaurant of its kind and is fully automated — you’ll find it in Fort Worth, Texas. It requires no human employees from the moment customers order their food to when it’s presented to them.

Diners can order ahead of time on the app or use kiosks inside the location to place their orders. Finished orders are available on pick-up shelves or delivered via a conveyor belt, while delivery drivers have a separate room to access orders (no more random meal snatchers stealing your food!).

Unlike other locations, like this Disney World one, the new restaurant is tiny!

McDonald’s has created this new restaurant concept as part of their Accelerating the Arches program. They state that the focus is improving customer experiences. Hopefully the automated restaurant will mean shorter wait times for customers! It’s unclear though how the human-less restaurants will handle issues with orders, requests for extra items, and other things that seem like you’d require more tailored attention for.

Say bye bye to drive-thru!

Some online readers feel this new concept is taking away already scarce jobs, and threatened that they’ll boycott the chain if they create more locations. There can also be benefits, especially if you’re an introvert! If it’s 11 PM and you’re hankering for some Chicken McNuggets, now you can run inside in your jammies and head back home without having to interact with anyone. Kind of sounds like the dream, tbh.
