The many dining options at EPCOT make it challenging to choose where to eat! We like one full-service, sit-down meal to relax and restore ourselves during each of our theme park days. This year, we decided to eat our full-service meal in EPCOT at the Rose & Crown Dining Room, and I’m glad we did! The entrees were delicious, we enjoyed trying new British food items, we had a beautiful view of the water, and we got a discount.
The Entrees and Extras
We chose diverse entrees. My oldest son went simple and had the Welsh Burger. It was a good burger made to order with beer cheese sauce and served with thick-cut French fries. My youngest son went completely different and ordered a Chicken Marsala Curry Dish. Our waitress warned him that it was spicy, but he didn’t think it was spicy enough. My husband and I shared the Shepherd’s Pie so that we had room to share an appetizer and side dish as well. The Shepherd’s Pie was delicious. It had a good sauce and was topped with McCall’s Irish Cheddar Cheese. We would recommend all three very different entrees.
My husband and I also ordered two other food items to sample something new. We tried the cheese platter for our appetizer. The platter had three different types of cheese and each with a different topping pairing. My favorite of the three was a blue cheese with apple chutney. I normally do not like blue cheese, but it was tasty with the fruit chutney. The two other kinds of cheese were different types of cheddar, one with an onion relish and the other with what tasted like a curry relish. I did not like the curry option. My husband liked all three pieces of cheese with toppings, but his favorite was the cheddar with onion relish. Multigrain crackers were served with the cheese. From looking at past dining photos from others, it seems like the restaurant varies its cheese choices.
Now, for the best thing, we had at the Rose & Crown Dining Room. My husband and I ordered the Bubble & Squeak as a side dish. It was a scrumptious blend of potato, cabbage, and bacon cooked together into a single potato patty. Our waitress said she ate it every day for lunch. I would highly recommend this British dish!
The View
The day we visited EPCOT was very hot, and we were not asked if we preferred outside or inside dining. They sat us outside. I was worried that it would be too hot, but we were under the patio covering, and there were fans keeping the area cool.
Our table was on the second level of the outside seating area, right by the water. It was beautiful to look out at the park while we ate. It would have also been nice to eat indoors with air conditioning and the British Pub theming, but we did enjoy our view. Some reviewers said that the inside dining room could be really loud at times.
The Discount
Lastly, I read before our trip that Disney Visa cardholders could receive a ten percent discount at the Rose & Crown Dining Room. That was one reason we chose the restaurant. When I asked about it, our waitress said they usually only give the discount before 4:00 p.m., but she still got it for us. I was very grateful. The Disney Visa website did not mention the time limitations. A discount at Disney World is always hard and wonderful to get!
Overall, we enjoyed our royal dinner at the Rose & Crown Dining Room. My only regret was not trying the Sticky Toffee Pudding. We recommend ordering various dishes, and if you have a Disney Visa card, you will hopefully get the discount.
