On a recent visit to the newly opened Super Nintendo World Store at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, we were amazed to find the Mushroom sippers were available for purchase, the first time we’ve seen them outside of Japan! We also found the fun light-up Super Star popcorn bucket for sale as well, fresh off the boat.
Super Mushroom Sipper – $20
This adorable Super Mushroom collectible drink sipper has hallmarks of the classic power-up. The red mushroom cap with white spots serves as the lid for the cup. An adjustable yellow strap attaches to either side of the lid with red plastic clips.
The first fill up is free, and additional refills are $1.50 each.
On the back white spot is imprinted “Super Nintendo World.”
The top of the mushroom lid has two holes. The large hole is for the straw and the smaller hole is an air hole to allow the beverage freely flow from inside the cup to the straw. without bubbling or splashing.
As adorable as the red and green mushroom sippers are they become genuinely terrifying when you have to take off the lid. The flesh color stem is where the beverage goes and it really ruins the illusion when you have to refill the sipper.
The wide and bright color carrying strap is comfortable on the shoulder. It features various iconography from the Super Mario Bros series, including Bob-Ombs, ? Blocks, Super Stars, Pipes, Fire Flowers, POW Blocks, Goombas, and Yoshi Eggs. This same sipper has been available since October 2020 at Universal Studios Japan.
1-Up Mushroom Sipper – $20
The green Super Mario-series 1-Up Mushroom collectible sipper cup has the exact same design and features as the red one, but with one difference. After purchasing either the red or green collectible sipper, the first fill-up is free and additional refills cost $1.50 per refill all day.
The one difference is that the sipper strap comes in a steel blue instead of bright yellow. This sipper became available at Universal Studios Japan starting in December 2020 when previews began.
Super Star Light-Up Popcorn Bucket – $39.99
The Super Star light-up popcorn bucket is based on the invincibility power-up a player may obtain when playing almost any Mario game.
Made from yellow plastic, this hefty popcorn bucket has two big eyes in the center of the container.
To turn on the lights in the star, you first unclick the face by turning it to the left. Then, pull the tab on the back of the star panel. This will allow you to press the button to turn on the light. The light has two modes: steady on and slow blink. To switch between these modes, simply press the button again.
This inside panel is also where the batteries are stored. To replace the batteries, simply unscrew the panel.
Once the Super Star popcorn bucket is assembled, the back panel can be unlocked to reveal the storage container for the popcorn. This container is the perfect place to keep your popcorn fresh and ready to enjoy. To access it, simply unlock the back panel and lift it open.
The popcorn bucket also has the same style of carrying strap as the Mushroom collectible sippers, only this one is red.
The Super Star popcorn bucket is not inexpensive. It costs $39.99, and with that price, you only get unlimited refills on the day of purchase. Sadly Universal Studios Hollywood doesn’t have the delicious Mushroom Cream and Caramel Peach popcorn flavors available in Japan.
Are any of these Super Mario Bros. items a “must-have” for you? If so, let us know which ones in the comments.
