There are quite a few new things to check out in EPCOT right now!
From rides like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to restaurants like Connections Eatery, it has been a BIG year for the park. And to round out the year, you can celebrate at the Festival of the Holidays! But besides all those things, there are some pretty major construction projects happening — and we’ve got an update on the massive EPCOT transformation.
Let’s start things out near Spaceship Earth, where there’s a section of the park under construction next to Guest Relations. This area has been blocked off since before Cosmic Rewind opened, but when it was open, it was a path that led back to the building. It seems to be a project that’s on the back burner at the moment, because we haven’t seen many changes here in quite a while.
As you take the monorail around EPCOT, you’ll be able to see more into the center of the park. The large two-story building under construction in the middle is what will become CommuniCore Hall. This space will be home to festival areas and spaces for character meet-and-greets.
More additions have been made to the structure recently on the outside, and we’ve seen cranes onsite installing extra pieces. We’ll continue watching to see how tall the building is when construction is complete on the basics.
And finally, we have the big project — Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana! This walk-through attraction has seen some changes recently as well. First of all, there are boundaries on the edges of the walking path in some places. (See those tiny rock walls?)
We also noticed that flowers had been added to the large mountain with the Te Fiti symbol. Last time we’d checked in, there was only moss here.
More rock structures have been added behind the painted ones as well. It looks like this is going to be a pretty big attraction!
Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on the Moana attraction, as well as the other EPCOT transformation projects. We can’t wait to see it all finished up next year and be able to walk through the middle of the park again!
