In honor of the release of “Avatar: The Way of Water” this month, new limited-time items have debuted at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora – The World of Avatar.
There’s the Ocean Moon Bowl, Ilu Splash Margarita, and Metkayina Mousse. They are all limited-time, but we don’t know how long they will be available.
Ocean Moon Bowl – $17.49
Blue Noodles, Tuna, Watermelon Radish, Pickled Daikon, Rainbow Carrots, Avocado, Cucumbers, and Red Cabbage with Miso and Sweet Soy Drizzle topped with Micro Cilantro
This is a refreshing cold dish that we wish was available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom year-round. The vinaigrette is light, adding just enough tangy flavor to every bite. We thought the noodles looked dry and underseasoned, but they were good. The tuna was fresh and not fishy. It was fantastic for Disney counter service.
The avocado isn’t great but doesn’t ruin the dish. The rainbow carrots are part of the standard slaw on other Satu’li bowls.
This is a good amount of food, and there’s a balance of noodles, tuna, and everything else. Overall, we loved it, although we don’t know if we would order it over the other Satu’li bowls that we also love. We hope it sticks around because we think it would make a great summer dish.
Ilu Splash Margarita – $13.50
Corazón Blanco Tequila with Kiwi, Sour Mix, Lime Juice, and a Kiwi Slice
We really liked this too. Unlike other Disney cocktails, it doesn’t have an overwhelming syrup taste but there’s still a sourness at the backend. The kiwi on top is fresh. This is well-balanced and frankly better than any EPCOT margarita.
Metkayina Mousse – $6.29
Flourless Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Gelée, Mango Coulis, Boba Pearls, and a Milk and White Chocolate Garnish
This is the best mousse to come out of Satu’li Canteen. The chocolate mousse is very milky — it tastes more like a homemade chocolate pudding than mousse.
There’s just the right amount of raspberry inside. It’s sweet without being overpowering.
The raspberry and chocolate flavors work great together.
The flourless cake at the bottom is coated in sugar, which provides a crunch, but there’s not much taste to it. That doesn’t matter, though, because the top of the treat is so good. The cake is basically just a base.
This is a must-order. We hope all three of these items stay instead of just being limited time because we enjoyed them all immensely. We hope “Avatar: The Way of Water” is just as good!
