If you’ve been on a Disney World vacation, you know just how important that morning, mid-day, or evening cup of coffee can be.
Between the various Starbucks locations on property and all the spots where you can get a delicious cup of Joffrey’s brew, there are plenty of choices when it comes to grabbing coffee in Disney World. But, a NEW coffee shop has just opened at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, so we’re bringing you our FULL review of Carousel Coffee!
Atmosphere
Carousel Coffee is the newest coffee shop in Disney World! You’ll find it at the BoardWalk Inn, just steps away from EPCOT and inside the resort lobby.
Carousel Coffee serves Joffrey’s Coffee, along with various pastries and eats for a quick breakfast or snack!
It’s quite roomy inside, with plenty of space for guests to mill about as they try and decide what they want to order — it all looks SO good!
You’ll order at the counter and pick up your items from there for a quick, grab-and-go cup of joe or a coffee.
But, now that we know just how pretty and spacious Carousel Coffee is, we have to figure out just how that coffee and food tastes!
Menu
There are plenty of pastries available in the pastry case…
…and there are quite a few different drink options to choose from as well!
A little something for everyone, even non-coffee drinkers!
Food
We stopped by Carousel Coffee VERY early in the morning to get some sweet treats and drinks, and started with the NJ Crumb Cake for $4.29. What a great way to start — this crumb cake is crumby in the BEST way! It’s got a pretty dominant cinnamon flavor, and the cake is dense and moist without being too chewy.
The cinnamon streusel crumbs on top are absolutely the best part; they add a nice crunchy texture to an otherwise dense cake. This is a pretty sweet way to start the day, so make sure you’re prepared for that if you want to try this classic coffee shop treat out!
Next up, we had the Crunchy Raspberry Danish for $4.29 as well. This a flaky, raspberry danish with raspberry icing on top and raspberry crumble, and a layer of caramel. Oh MAN, this was so wonderful and different from anything we’ve had at Disney World. The crunchy bits on top are tart which helps to cut down on the sweetness from the rest of the dessert.
It’s VERY raspberry-forward, so if you’re not a fruity dessert or breakfast person, this one might not be for you. It’s another sweet treat thanks to the icing and that caramel on the bottom, but it might just be the best treat we tried today.
Of course, we had to try the Vintage Mickey Sugar Cookie for $4.29 too! This is a traditional sugar cookie with white icing and Mickey (or Minnie) printed onto it. While this is an adorable (and quite photo-worthy) snack, it didn’t wow us. It’s a pretty standard sugar cookie, and was pretty crunchy and dry.
It didn’t taste like a freshly baked sugar cookie, and we thought the icing on top was a little too thick and crunchy. For the same price as the other two treats we tried today, we’re not so sure that this sugar cookie is worth $4.29.
Alright, now that we know how the snacks taste — what about the drinks?!
Drinks
There are several different coffee and tea beverages on the menu, and first up we tried the Pomegranate Green Tea Lemonade for $5.48. Heads up — this is even SWEETER than the treats we tried! We did enjoy it, and it had a little bit of tartness from the lemonade but it tasted like a super sweet, syrupy lemonade. We didn’t get the pomegranate or green tea flavors in this drink at all. It would be great for a non-coffee drinker who is looking for something sweet!
Next up we tried the Cinnamon Bun Frozen Blended Coffee for $5.99. This is Joffrey’s Cold Brew blended with cinnamon bun syrup, milk, mocha, and whipped cream on top. Another sweet drink, but the coffee flavor helps give it a depth that the other sweet treats didn’t have. We tasted more chocolate mocha flavors than cinnamon, but the spice does shine through and make this a fun blended drink.
If you’re looking for a sweet and cold coffee, this might be for you — but if you’re looking for something that’s super cinnamon heavy, this isn’t it.
Overall
The new Carousel Coffee is a great option for coffee and snacks just steps outside of EPCOT. While everything we tried was pretty sweet, we did enjoy everything we had (though the sugar cookie wasn’t our favorite!). Give Carousel Coffee a try if you’re staying at the BoardWalk or another nearby resort, or if you find yourself walking on Disney’s BoardWalk!
