Disney’s Aulani Resort combines the best of two worlds: a trip to Hawaii with a Disney-themed experience. Honestly, what could be better?
We’ll tell you — the FOOD at Disney’s Aulani Resort. There’s a reason our middle name IS “Food,” after all. We’ve already told you a bit about some other restaurants at Aulani, including Pāpālua Shave Ice, Makahiki — The Bounty of the Islands, and ‘AMA ‘AMA, so we’re now going to tell you about another dining spot, Off The Hook.
Atmosphere
Off The Hook is a relaxing dining spot near the Waikolohe Valley pool and ‘Ama ‘Ama where you can grab a quick bite to eat, as well as enjoy a full bar with ocean views. The vibe here is fisherman’s seaside shack. Although it’s technically a quick service location, there is plenty of seating!
But we’re here to pick up some eats, so let’s get to that.
Eats
Off The Hook is a more casual spot where you can walk up and dine, as well as use Mobile Order.
The menu features appetizers, salads, sandwiches, flatbreads, and a variety of entrees, including Fresh Island Catch, Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, and a Hawaiian Bento Box.
We tried five dishes, starting with the Sweet and Sticky Pork Ribs for $21 with Hoisin Chili-Pepper Glaze and Sesame Slaw. We LOVED these — a must for ribs fans.
Next up was the Chicken Club Sandwich for $21 with Chicken, Ham, Bacon, Swiss Cheese, Avocado, Tomato, Butter Lettuce, Garlic Mayonnaise, and Toasted Whole Grain Bread. Yes, that is a lot of meat, but that’s why we loved it — also, the bacon was nice, thick, and crispy. Let’s just say that this one is for you carnivores!
We also loved the option of Fresh Pineapple on the side. You HAVE to eat fresh pineapple in Hawaii — we don’t make the rules, y’all.
The Hawaiian BBQ Chicken for $29 comes with Portuguese Sausage Garlic Fried Rice, Grilled Zucchini, and Roasted Maui Gold Pineapple. It was DELICIOUS and we appreciated the portion size.
The Chopped Salad was also a hit. For $19, you get Chopped Romaine Lettuce, Crispy Wontons, Bacon, Tomato, Avocado, Eggs, Capers, Furikake, and Ranched Dressing. We also added Grilled Chicken Breast for an additional $8 — WORTH IT. The flavors in this salad melded so well together and everything was VERY fresh.
Finally, the French Dip for $22 is made with Slow-Roasted Beef, Baby Swiss, Horseradish Cream, Au Jus, on a French Roll. It’s got melted cheese on it — OF COURSE, WE LOVED IT.
Overall, this was a really good easy quick meal that came with a great view!
Overall
If you don’t want to spend a lot of time at a table service restaurant and just want a good family-friendly quick service meal, Off The Page is perfect. It’s also well-priced and although there are a lot of Hawaiian-inspired menu items, including things that even picky eaters would like.
