This is the time of year that many Disney fans dread — refurbishment season.

Many rides go under refurbishment in the winter months whether the closure is only for a few days or for a few months. We already know rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Kali River Rapids are temporarily closing in January (along with the permanent closure of Splash Mountain), but now another thrill ride has announced a refurbishment!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is one of the most popular rides in Hollywood Studios with long wait times to prove it. But, as of February 20th, 2023, the coaster will be closed for refurbishment. 

There is not an exact reopening date just yet, however we spoke with a Cast Member who said it would reopen sometime in the summer of 2023. That means the ride will be closed for at least a few months!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has infamously broken down for several days in a row in the past, so hopefully this refurbishment will help with some of those technical difficulties. Back in July of 2022, a Cast Member told us that the ride hasn’t had a full refurbishment since the parks reopened in 2020 — this is likely the reason for the length of the refurb.

If you’re looking for other thrill rides in the park, consider checking out Tower of Terror right next door or Slinky Dog Dash for another coaster (even though this one is a bit tamer).
