November was a BIG month in Disney World.

We saw the return of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, said goodbye to EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival and hello to the Festival of the Holidays, and we’ve also tried all kinds of new and returning eats. Now we’re back with the five BEST and the five WORST foods we ate in Disney World this November!

The Five Best

Chicken and Waffle Bowls — Fairfax Fare

Fairfax Fare, previously home to gourmet hot dogs, debuted four new chicken and waffle bowls in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and they’re literally waffle bowls filled with savory food. The flavor options include Buffalo Chicken, Barbecued Beef Brisket, Korean Barbecued Pork Belly, and Soba Noodle Salad.

We liked each bowl in a different way (click below to read our full review) but the standout here was the POTATOES. Creamy and delicious, you get flavorful mashed potatoes in every dish other than the Soba Noodle Salad Bowl. The bowls range in price from $12.99 to $14.79 depending on which flavor combo you choose!

Snowman Chocolate Marshmallow Pie — Gasparilla Island Grill

We made our way over to Gasparilla Island Grill in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for the Snowman Chocolate Marshmallow Pie for $6.99. It comes with two chocolate-covered graham crackers with marshmallow (aka a Moon Pie), and it’s just as cute as it is tasty.

We found this treat delicious as well as nice and light, but be warned that the thick graham crackers got a little messy. But it’s big enough to share and it’s truly worth the trip over to Grand Floridian!

Everything at Gideon’s — Gideon’s Bakehouse

There are SO many delicious options at Gideon’s Bakehouse and a number of returning and new holiday items arrived in November. You can grab the Kris Kringle Cookie for $6, which is a white chocolate coffee bean cookie with coconut, caramel, and vanilla bean notes. 

Alternatively, the Cookie Von Krampus is covered in Andes Mints for a major chocolate and mint combo for $6.

The Krampus Cold Brew is a combo of Gideon’s Cold Brew with chocolate mint homemade sauce for $6…

…and you can also get a slice of Cake Von Krampus made with red velvet cake with an ultra mint chocolate cream cheese frosting for $9 on Wednesdays and Sundays.

These items are available through December 31st and you honestly can’t go wrong with whatever you choose as long as you enjoy mint and chocolate! If you prefer a coffee flavor, stick with the Kris Kringle Cookie.

Thanksgiving Feast — Contempo Cafe

The limited-time Thanksgiving Feast in Disney World was a big winner! Technically, this dish was available at a variety of hotel spots around Disney Word, but we stopped by the Contempo Cafe in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This meal came with roasted turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables, along with cranberry relish for $15.49.

For a quick service Thanksgiving meal, we thought this was pretty great for people in the mood for a fast Turkey Day meal. The turkey was nice and flavorful and we also loved the stuffing and sweet potatoes. If you happen to be in Disney World on Thanksgiving Day, you might want to grab one of these!

Best of the Festival — Festival of the Holidays

We made our way around EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays to try all the goodies and there were definitely some HUGE standouts! We outlined all our favorites on our list of the Best of the Festival — so that you know all the must-try menu items, like the Mini Funnel Cake from the Funnel Cake Stand.

We also LOVED the Blackened Catfish at the American Holiday Table, which one of our reporters said was the best thing they’ve ever had at an EPCOT festival!

The new Spiced Pumpkin Punch at Le Marche de Noel Holiday Kitchen was also a big winner, as it was both creamy and full of pumpkin spice.

The Five Worst

Tuscany Holiday Kitchen — EPCOT Festival of the Holidays

Now it’s time to go over the worst things we tried in November, but it’s important to keep in mind that “worst” doesn’t necessarily mean “bad.” Plus, just because they weren’t our cup of tea doesn’t mean they can’t be yours!

We’re sticking with the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays with one booth that did NOT make our Best of the Festival list — the Tuscany Holiday Kitchen in the Italy Pavilion.

All three food items were new, and two of them were a big (womp womp) disappointment. The Tortellini in Brodo was disappointing five-cheese tortellini and the Salmone alla Siciliana didn’t wow us, so we were ultimately left feeling let down by this booth. However, note that the Panettone dessert was delicious — so you may not want to skip this booth entirely!

Santa Mickey Mouse Bubble Waffle — Marketplace Snacks

Over in Disney Springs, the Santa Mickey Mouse Bubble Waffle from Marketplace Snacks was made with a fresh bubble waffle cone filled with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and red and green M&Ms with a white chocolate Santa hat and chocolate Pocky sticks for $8.99.

There were things to enjoy about this treat, like the warm and crispy waffle, and the balance of vanilla and chocolate, but the white chocolate Santa hat tasted too sweet and artificial. Overall, it’s just a simple vanilla and chocolate sundae, and Disney Springs is home to so many other unique holiday goodies that might be better worth your time and money!

Polar Bear Claw — Cool Ship

Okay, hear us out on this one because we LOVE Wendell’s Bear Claw in Magic Kingdom, but the Polar Bear Claw was a new version of it at Cool Ship that we had to try. This chocolate-hazelnut pastry with white and dark chocolate was available for $6.50, and if we’re honest — it was kind of a downgrade.

Our pastry was served cold and we didn’t love the addition of the white chocolate coating, which made it hard and somewhat difficult and messy to eat. We’d much rather stick with Wendell’s Bear Claw!

Christmas Cookie Churro — Various Carts

The Christmas Cookie Churro is available for a limited time from various carts around Magic Kingdom, made with marshmallow cream, cookie crumbles, and Christmas sprinkles for $7.25. As pretty as they look, they didn’t exactly taste like we had hoped.

We found this churro to be chewy and the marshmallow drizzle was TOO sweet — and it overpowered the cinnamon sugar. We also thought the toppings were a little stale. This could have been just our churro but it might be one of the holiday treats you’d prefer to skip.

Werther’s Caramel Bar — Big Top Treats

And finally, we tried the Werther’s Caramel Bar from Big Top Treats in Magic Kingdom, which was essentially a granola bar with caramel on top for $4.99. 

This treat was…weird. It was like eating two different snacks with VERY different textures of granola and caramel, and the caramel kept trying to slide off. It was an odd flavor combo that wasn’t for us, and there are other great snack options in the bakery case at Big Top Treats.
