When you visit Disney World, is going to the pool a must-do for you and the family? Are the water slides a big part of the fun? If you answered “yes” to those questions, you need to be aware of some closures that could seriously impact your trip.
In 2023, one pool at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will be closing for refurbishment, a pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will close, and a pool at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Spa is set to close too. We’ve even seen some pool closures announced for 2024. And now it’s time to add another pool-related closure to the list.
Starting on January 3rd, 2023, the Lava Pool water slide will be CLOSING for refurbishment. Note that this closure is just for the water slide. The Lava Pool itself will remain available for guests throughout the refurbishment — only the slide will close.
Disney has shared that this is being done as a part of routine maintenance to ensure that their facilities are kept at the highest quality levels (per information sent to travel agents).
The water slide at the Lava Pool is expected to reopen in early February. Of course, refurbishment dates can change, so be on the lookout for the latest updates.
Again, the water slide will be closed but the Lava Pool itself will be open. Also, the Oasis Pool will still be available for use while this refurbishment takes place.
Thankfully you won’t have to cut pool time out of your plans if you’ll be staying here in January, but if you’ve got little ones who were particularly excited about that pool slide, you’ll want to warn them about this change.
