Construction continues on CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza in the World Celebration neighborhood of EPCOT. The hall and plaza replace the festival center originally planned for the park.
Last month, white columns were installed on the end of the hall, which has no walls yet, but the basic shape is visible.
A red scrim is now wrapped around the roof of the hall.
Some wire hangs from the scrim.
Scrim is also visible inside the barebones building.
CommuniCore is a reference to two pavilions that were part of EPCOT on opening day. They were later reimagined into Innoventions, before eventually being demolished. The current home of CommuniCore East is now Creations Shop and Connections Cafe & Eatery, while CommuniCore Hall takes over the former site of CommuniCore West.
The new CommuniCore Hall and Plaza will serve as a multi-functional space that will be used during the park’s various festivals. The hall will be home to a Mickey & Friends meet and greet, a demo kitchen, a mixology bar, a gallery space, and more.
In the concept art above, we can see CommuniCore Hall to the left, wrapped around its plaza.
CommuniCore Hall and Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” will open in spring 2023.
