A new entryway has been erected outside the entryway to Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, presumably to protect guests from falling bricks outside the attraction at Universal Studios Florida.
The usual barricades outside of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem have been put away in place of something much sturdier. A large purple covered entryway has been installed outside of the attraction seemingly to protect from falling debris. A brick is noticeable missing from the facade of the Universal Studios attraction just above the entry.
A hole can be seen where a half brick was once laid on the facade of the motion simulation ride. While it appears to be the only noticeable sign of trouble, the quick installation of a more fortified entry might suggest that Universal Studios Florida may have done so out of an abundance of caution.
The tall purple walls and brown archway provide guests with 360 degrees of protection from any falling objects. Because the attraction remains open at Universal Studios Florida, it can be assumed that any risk has been assessed and deemed unlikely.
The new entryway comes as crews work to complete construction on a new Minions “Villain-Con” attraction that will replace Shrek 4-D just across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.
On the attraction, guests endure the grueling process of becoming one of Gru’s Minions, with the help of his adoptive daughters Margo, Edith, and Agnes. The wacky and zany adventure through Gru’s training gauntlet is open at Universal Studios Hollywood, Florida, Japan, and Beijing, with a Singapore version set to open in their new Minion Park expansion next year. The opening of the Singapore version will make Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem the first ride to be part of every Universal Studios theme park around the world.
