The OC Register has reported that plans for Disneyland’s Downtown Disney renovation are in motion as they now apply for construction permits. Specifically, the application mentions an 8,300-square-foot retail building with a designated area for five shops. It’s the beginning of the grand Disneyland expansion project that was announced in early 2021 that sent imaginations (like mine) into overdrive, wondering what the future of Disneyland would look like.
“The commercial construction permits filed with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department call for a new 8,300-square-foot retail building with room for five shops. Also in the works: A new bathroom and employee break room.
An event space with a 1,250-square-foot stage, shade structure and 21 lights are also in the plans, according to the permits.“
The renovation project is expected to take several years to complete and be attempted in stages to keep the surrounding areas functioning with as little impact as possible.
