When you feel yourself craving something sweet while at Disney, one place you can always turn to is a churro cart.

These carts are peppered across the parks, doling out hot churros covered in sweet sugar and served with delicious icing. Often, Disney will offer limited edition flavors for different holidays and events. That’s happening right now at the Lunar New Year Festival in Disneyland. Come with us to try the newest treat!

Right now the 2023 Lunar New Year Festival is happening in Disney California Adventure, and there are tons of new food items to try! Along with the food booths, plenty of the park’s permanent food service locations are offering special menu items for a limited time during the festival.

One place where you can try a new snack is Goofy’s Churro Cart, where they’re serving up an Almond Cookie Churro. Instead of a traditional fried treat, this is a cross between a churro and a cookie, and along with a dusting of sugar it’s topped with slivered almonds. It also comes with almond icing.

When we received our Almond Cookie Churro, the first thing we noticed was the icing was more watery than we expected it to be; in the photos we’ve seen, the icing looked thicker. We did get a generous amount of slivered almonds though!

Now, for the taste test! Despite the amount of almonds and the flavored icing, the almond flavor was very mild — it almost reminded us of marzipan. There was also a slight hint of vanilla that we enjoyed. We liked the texture contrast between the crunchy almonds and soft churro. As an added bonus, we got one of the first ones of the day so it was nice and warm, fresh out of the oven!

Overall, we thought the Almond Cookie Churro was a tasty snack that was sweet without being overly sugary. We suggest checking with the Cast Members to find out when a fresh batch is coming so you can enjoy them warm!
