Flight DELAYS and CANCELATIONS Affect Florida Airports

The airline industry has seen its fair share of problems in recent years, and this holiday travel season has been no different.

Have you flown recently?

From staffing shortages to extreme weather, traveling by air has been a gamble. And now, a different kind of issue is plaguing flights — and more specifically, flights into Florida.

According to WESH Orlando, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that there was an Air Traffic Control equipment issue at a Miami Center, causing flights into Florida to be delayed or canceled. The delays at Orlando International Airport began piling up shortly after 1PM on Monday, with some reaching 30-45 minutes.

WESH’s Eric Burris shared that the Miami Center’s computer system that helps with air traffic had gone down, and that nearly every airport in Florida was having major issues because of it.

Miami International Airport shared in a statement that there was a nationwide ground stop in and out of Florida because of a “radar link outage” but that the issue has since been resolved. Planes are now slowly being allowed to depart airports in Florida.
