Wi-Fi has become one of those things many of us tend to rely on. We use it at home, at work, at Disney World, and many of us pay to use it when we are on an airplane.

Well, good news for those that do tend to pay for Wi-Fi onboard an airplane — Delta Air Lines is introducing FREE Wi-Fi!

According to CNN, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian shared that free Wi-Fi would be rolling out on most planes starting February 1, 2023.

“It’s going to be free, it’s going to be fast and its going to be available for everyone,” Delta CEO Ed Bastian said Thursday at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. He also shared that the airline had invested more than $1 billion in Wi-Fi technology over the past few years.

Now, you will need to be a member of Delta’s free SkyMiles loyalty program to access the free Wi-Fi, otherwise, passengers will pay a flat fee of $10 for the Wi-Fi. You will be able to connect multiple devices as well. So no need to choose between your phone or laptop!

This service will launch on Delta’s most popular routes and on over 500 planes come February 1. Wide-body planes and jets should have this service by the end of 2024. Wondering if your plane is one equipped with free Wi-Fi? There should be a decal noting it near the boarding door on your plane. You can also ask a Flight Attendant!

Flying away

Delta is the first of the big three to roll out free Wi-Fi, so we are intrigued to see if the other’s follow suit. United Airlines also just announced some upgrades to many of its planes. You can read more about those changes here.
