We’re staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which is where we found the latest in Disney resort technology. The Hey, Disney! device is an Amazon Alexa-enabled virtual assistant that lives in your hotel room. The device has a touch screen as well as audio command capabilities, and can even understand “custom voice assistance” that you can set up!
Amazon Alexa is part of these devices
Just say “Hey, Disney!” and your assistant can answer questions about a variety of topics like weather, guest services, resort amenities, and so much more. You can also use your device to interact with your favorite characters and other fun activities! Check out this video showing how to use your Hey, Disney device.
Hey Disney! is currently LIVE in Disney World hotel rooms, and we’re giving you a peek at the new system! pic.twitter.com/yllWze1jVD
On the top are three buttons: plus and minus for controlling the volume (you may want your alarm extra high to wake you up after passing out from an exhausting day!) as well as a mute button. Anyone with an Alexa device at home will know its hearing is pretty sensitive, so if you need a break you can just press the button with the ⊘ symbol. When it’s red, you’ll know it’s muted.
Helpful buttons
The Hey, Disney! devices are more than information hubs. You can use yours to request extra linens, listen to a bedtime story, get dining recommendations, and plenty of other functional requests.

A new entryway has been erected outside the entryway to Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, presumably to protect guests from falling bricks outside the attraction at Universal Studios Florida.
The usual barricades outside of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem have been put away in place of something much sturdier. A large purple covered entryway has been installed outside of the attraction seemingly to protect from falling debris. A brick is noticeable missing from the facade of the Universal Studios attraction just above the entry.
A hole can be seen where a half brick was once laid on the facade of the motion simulation ride. While it appears to be the only noticeable sign of trouble, the quick installation of a more fortified entry might suggest that Universal Studios Florida may have done so out of an abundance of caution.
The tall purple walls and brown archway provide guests with 360 degrees of protection from any falling objects. Because the attraction remains open at Universal Studios Florida, it can be assumed that any risk has been assessed and deemed unlikely.
The new entryway comes as crews work to complete construction on a new Minions “Villain-Con” attraction that will replace Shrek 4-D just across from Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.
On the attraction, guests endure the grueling process of becoming one of Gru’s Minions, with the help of his adoptive daughters Margo, Edith, and Agnes. The wacky and zany adventure through Gru’s training gauntlet is open at Universal Studios Hollywood, Florida, Japan, and Beijing, with a Singapore version set to open in their new Minion Park expansion next year. The opening of the Singapore version will make Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem the first ride to be part of every Universal Studios theme park around the world.

Our reporters in the field and guests have reported that the Monorails have been delayed, shaking every few feet, and sometimes not going over 5 mph.
Disney did not share the exact reason for the downtime on Friday and Saturday. Some said on social media that the system experienced a power outage, but these reports are unconfirmed. We will continue to update this story as it progresses.

After a brief refurbishment, “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” has reopened with refreshed seats and carpeting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Many of the seats and their backs were getting dirty and worn down. But they have been cleaned up, and some have been replaced, leaving the theater looking great! While the theater did receive some love, the content of “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” was not changed during its scheduled refurbishment, which kicked off earlier this month.
The seats are upholstered with gray plastic material.
The backs have a chevron pattern while the seats are solid.
The carpet also looked fresh, like it had been thoroughly cleaned or replaced.
“For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” moved into the Hyperion Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2015, replacing The American Idol Experience. The show is presented as a historical account of Arendelle, featuring iconic moments from the first film played on screens above. During the show, Anna and Elsa join on stage to encourage guests in singing along to beloved hits like “Let It Go” via projected lyrics. Content from “Frozen 2” is not featured in the show.
Do you visit the sing-along during your Disney’s Hollywood Studios trips? Let us know in the comments.

As guests at Disneyland have reportedly begun damaging the newly opened queue of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the team members at Universal Studios Hollywood are taking no chances with the queue of their newest attraction Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. Guests who were lucky enough to have already previewed Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood may be surprised to learn that an incredibly detailed model prominently displayed in Bowser’s Castle has now been covered with a cage to prevent theft or damage.
After a stroll through Yoshi’s Island and the caves, guests at Universal Studios Hollywood find themselves within the walls of Bowser’s Castle. As guests enter Bowser’s library, strategic plans and blueprints surround an incredibly detailed model that shows how Bowser envisions the Mario Kart course. This display, made largely from cardboard and paper, has now been covered with a metal cage to keep guests from damaging the handmade scene.
The display features Mario characters in their Super Nintendo-era art style alongside each of the Koopalings and various enemies like Thwomps, Chain Chomps, and Piranha Plants. For a full tour of the model display and the queue in its entirety, check out our walkthrough from earlier this month which shows the diorama cage-free.
While the cage was not deemed necessary during the attraction’s soft opening, its placement now suggests guests may have been more “hands-on” than originally anticipated. A similar display can be found within the queue at Universal Studios Japan, but after nearly two years in place, the delicate and detailed model remains intact and in place without the need to be caged off from guests.
Check out our Full Ride POV of Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge at Universal Hollywood:
What do you think of the need to cage off this detailed display inside Bowser’s Castle? Let us know in the comments.
