ALERT! The Skyliner Has REOPENED in Disney World

Are you and your crew fans of Disney’s transportation system in the sky? We’ve got good news for you!

Skyliner at Riviera

Disney’s Skyliner is one of the most popular modes of transportation on Disney World property, due to its convenience and because it really is just tons of fun! However, as several things at Disney do this time of year, the Skyliner closed on January 22nd for a week long refurbishment.

As of January 29th, the Skyliner is back up and running! We saw people hopping on and off these magical gondolas over at Hollywood Studios.

We missed you, Skyliner!

This will make things much easier for those park-hopping between Hollywood Studios and EPCOT and those visiting the two parks from resorts like the Riviera, Art of Animation, Pop Century, and Caribbean Beach.

We didn’t notice anything new about the Skyliner — it looks like it was closed for routine maintenance so that the system would be safe and enjoyable for guests. The Skyliner had a refurbishment around the same time last year!

Skyliner is open!

So if you’re at Disney World, you can once again enjoy the Skyliner! We’re happy to have it back — especially to save our legs from all that extra walking last week! We keep up with all the latest Disney news and updates, so make sure to follow along for more. We recently posted about other closures that would be taking place in Disney World in 2023, so make sure to read all about those if you’re planning a trip this year!

New Minnie Mouse Ears Coming to Disneyland Resort

I am a lover of Minnie Mouse ear headbands; it is true. At this point, there is no point in trying to deny it; I have a problem. So, imagine my excitement when I saw these fine bad boys pop up on my screen as part of the new Disney100 Eras collection! It wasn’t released with the first selection of merch you will find in our usual Monday Merch Meeting, but I have my eyes keenly searching for them to become available online, so I can add them to my collection.

The new Disney100 ears are a big improvement on the first collection released as part of the celebration, featuring a star-spangled platinum bow and ears covered in a print pattern with Disneyland Resort attraction icons. What do you think, is this one better than the platinum-dipped version we saw a few weeks back?

New Protection and Defense Lightsaber ‘Scrap Metal’ Pieces Available at Savi’s Workshop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

After receiving new Peace and Justice and Power and Control lightsaber “scrap metal” pieces, Savi’s Workshop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a new series of Protection and Defense pieces.

A guide is available at Savi’s Workshop to pick out your lightsaber pieces before sifting through the scraps.

There are four scrap metal themes: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense. All four collections received new pieces at Disneyland. Elemental Nature has yet to be replaced at Walt Disney World.

Savi’s Handbuilt Lightsabers is the custom Lightsaber building experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park (and also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida). Guests must pre-pay $249.99 plus tax for the experience, which includes a lightsaber (a hilt, two sleeves, one emitter, one pommel cap, one set of activation plates and switches, and a 31″ blade), a cloisonné pin, and a lightsaber carrying case.

The in-universe story is that the Gatherers, who possess forbidden knowledge of the Jedi Order, are operating out of Savi & Son Salvage. On the surface, Savi sells scrap metals from old ships and devices. The Gatherers use his salvage shop as a cover to help Force sensitive beings craft their own lightsabers.

When you arrive at Savi’s, the Gatherers will show you the various collections of “scrap metal” they have to offer. Each theme has multiple options for most of the lightsaber parts, so once you are inside the workshop, the Gatherers will help you select the specific designs you want for your hilt.

For a close-up look at the old styles for comparison, see our detailed photos here.

Protection and Defense

Cultivated from a time forgotten, these earliest lightsaber pieces contain designs and inscriptions that are shrouded in mystery. Believed to be created for protection and defense, conferring anonymity and symbolizing emotional detachment, a lightsaber made from these pieces reconnects the user with the most ancient wellspring of the Force.

The icons on the switches aren’t the Protection and Defense emblem but rather the symbol seen in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. They use the same core color scheme — silver as the primary color with copper and golden accents.

Two of the sleeve options have “Force Wielder” on them, written in ur-Kittât — a Star Wars language often referred to as a Sith language, but which is also known as the Old Tongue and used by Force users of all kinds.

TV Review / Recap: “Willow: Behind the Magic” Combines Documentary with Mockumentary on Disney+

Back in 2011, actor Warwick Davis combined his sizable talents with comedians Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant to create the BBC / HBO mockumentary series Life’s Too Short, in which the diminutive performer played a heightened version of himself, not unlike Seinfeld co-creator Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. And now, with Warwick Davis back in the […]
