Hungry for something new at Disneyland? Galactic Grill is offering three brand-new items and a returning favorite to its menu, including a Grilled Pineapple Ham-Burger!
Grilled Pineapple Ham-Burger – $15.49
Angus Beef Patty, Grilled Spiced Ham & Pineapple, Togarashi Slaw and Sweet Mayonnaise served on a toasted Brioche Bun, served with choice of Greek Yogurt or French Fries
The Grilled Pineapple Ham-Burger was both a hit and a miss. The grilled spiced ham (which essentially tasted like Spam) and pineapple were a fun little treat on top of the lackluster burger.
But the canned nature of the Spam brings out the frozen, processed beef patty flavor of the burger. Galactic Grill uses the same burger patty for many of their specialty burgers, and they’re uniformly unpleasant. (Costco’s finest, we joke amongst ourselves.) And as such, each new burger is won or lost in the toppings. Unfortunately, the toppings chosen for this burger highlight how unpleasant the burger patty is, giving the whole dish an overall feeling of processed “yuck.”
That being said, the sweet grilled pineapple and even the flavor of the grilled Spam are unique and interesting, and when paired with the togarashi slaw, they make for a burger that is slightly ahead of the other ones featured on the menu, if only for the fact that it’s an experience in itself.
Mushroom Philly Sandwich – $14.69
Sautéed Mushrooms, Red Bell Peppers, Caramelized Yellow Onions, Crispy-Fried Spiced Red Onions and Chives, served on a Sourdough Hoagie Roll with choice of Greek Yogurt or French Fries
Where the Grilled Pineapple Ham-Burger took a gamble and it didn’t pay off, this sandwich takes a chance and wins big. This is one of the best sandwiches on property right now!
It’s a Philly cheesesteak sandwich without the steak, having mushrooms in its place. Not only is it unique, it’s delicious. The variety of mushrooms used as the main ingredient are soft but still have a pleasant enough texture for a good enough bite.
The cheese and mayonnaise and peppers and onions all work well together, creating a uniform dish that, while hard to get an equally-portioned bite of, is similar enough in flavor throughout that you don’t feel slighted.
It’s rich, creamy, savory, and everything we wanted from this kind of sandwich. We don’t miss the steak at all!
Blackberry-Cucumber Limeade – $5.79
Blackberry-infused Limeade garnished with a Blackberry Coulis and Cucumbers
This is yet another drink in which we’re pleasantly surprised to find so much real fruit flavor coming through.
The lime is tart and zesty, with fresh blackberries intermixed and an herbaceous cucumber note to set it all off. It’s not overly sweet, but it’s definitely sweeter than some of the other drinks we’ve had from the spring specials.
This is a drink that will get better as the weather gets warmer, though it’s no slouch on a cloudy day like today.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this drink and we’ll definitely be revisiting it soon.
Chocolate Red Velvet Parfait – $6.99
Layers of Chocolate Pudding, Red Velvet Sponge, Chocolate Mousse, and Crushed Chocolate Crème-Filled Cookies
It’s been a while since this parfait appeared at Galactic Grill, having debuted during Halloween Time 2019, when it was known as “Darth by Chocolate.”
This might be one of the best desserts we’ve had. It truly is death by chocolate!
Layers of red velvet on the bottom pair perfectly with rich chocolate mousse and Oreo crumbles. The top hard layer of chocolate ganache adds some protection, so you can carry this guy all the way to Batuu for some fun photo ops.
Be sure to scoop all the way up from the bottom to enjoy each layer. All we can say is we had a few kids tasting this and the dessert was gone in about 30 seconds flat.
Grab this immediately on your next trip!
Not only are springtime food specials popping up around the park, but some early arrivals for the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration have appeared as well! Check out our reviews of the Lemon Tea Cake and Lemon Chiffon Pie.
