Mango Hard Float – $16

Mango Cart Beer with Mango Sorbet and Diced Mango

ClarabellesMangoHardFloat3

This is a very mango forward drink, which is great considering it’s the headline flavor. Mango cart, the beer at its base, is already sweet and mango flavored. So the sweet mango sorbet added to the mix brings a velvety character, though not any other flavor notes.

That being said, for anyone who is a mango fan, this is heaven. The chili chamoy rim was not on the menu but it works very well with the overall drink and we were happy to have it, as it brings a second element beyond just mango.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this and will likely be returning for it again soon.

Lemon-Raspberry Hard Float – $16

Lemon-Raspberry Cider, Lemon Sorbet and a Fresh Raspberry Garnish

This is super bright and refreshing, like summer in a glass. Similarly to the mango drink’s flavor profile, it’s very lemon-forward with a small hint of fruit flavor from the raspberry. It’s not so much a flavor note and we wouldn’t be able to pick it out as being raspberry without being told such, but there is a certain sweet fruit characteristic to mix it up from the lemon. It’s also a very good looking drink, with the nice clear cider showcasing the bubbling raspberries inside.

The lemon sorbet doesn’t bring the same velvety quality to this which the mango sorbet brings to the mango hard float, But it’s still a pleasant sweetness and borderline effervescence from the frothy sorbet melting. Overall, this is a light and refreshing sip for the approach of spring as it turns into summer, and we recommend it!

Mangonada – $7.99

Two Scoops of Mango Sorbet, layered with Chamoy, Fresh Mango Chunks and a Chile-Lime Seasoning Rim

ClarabellesMangonada1

This is essentially a chili mango sundae. We expected mango to be the dominant flavor, but the chili comes through much more prominently than we would expect, to the point it essentially dominates the entire sundae. It’s not spicy per se, but it is a definite chili flavor that is the first thing you notice and the last thing left on the palate.

The mango sorbet is such a subtle flavor that it is completely overtaken by the chili. It’s not unpleasant in any way, just a different character to the sundae than we had expected upon ordering.

ClarabellesMangonada4

It’s not a bad option, but we don’t recommend ordering this if you want a mostly mango sundae with a spicy kick, you’ll be disappointed.

All in all, we were pretty positive about this season’s offerings at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, and you wouldn’t be disappointed if you stopped by. But let us know in the comments what you thought, or if you’re excited to try these on your next trip to Disney California Adventure!
