You can be rewarded for sampling a spectrum of offerings with the return of the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine at the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
A listing of this year’s featured dishes can be found in Festival Passports and on signs around World Showcase.
Take a Technicolor Tour Around EPCOT
The process is simple:
- Get a Festival Passport.
- Purchase at least five of the seven items featured in this year’s Wonderful Walk. Each item is connected to a different color.
- During your purchase, get your Festival Passport stamped with that item’s corresponding color.
- When you’ve purchased five or more items, bring your stamped passport to Deco Delights to receive a complimentary Artist Palette Cookie.
- Not very hungry? No problem! Your passport stamps are valid through the run of the festival. Just complete the walk and redeem your passport by February 20, 2023, to claim your prize!
There are seven menu items to choose from, including Blood Orange-Braised Beef Tartare from Gourmet Landscapes, Pan-Seared Scallops from Moderne, a Chorizo and Potato Empanada from the Encanto Cocina, a Deconstructed Key Lime Pie from The Deconstructed Dish, an Orange Mousse from Deco Delights, an Almond Frangipane Cake from Pop Eats, and the Pop’t Art from Figment’s Inspiration Station. Wondering which ones to buy to complete the walk? Read on for our full reviews!
Red: Blood Orange-Braised Beet Tartare with Mustard Vinaigrette, Pickled Clamshell Mushrooms, and Golden Beets from Gourmet Landscapes
A solid dish with a lot going on. Thin, crunchy beets line the bottom, accompanied nicely by strong bleu cheese, well-prepared mushrooms, and more. The crostini (basically tiny toasted, buttery bread slices) are a welcome touch as well.
Orange: Pan-Seared Scallops with Vanilla-Butternut Squash Purée, Brown Butter Cauliflower Purée and Lime Foam from Moderne
The scallops were fishy, chewy, and stringy; overall, just really bad quality. The foam was interesting, so it’s a shame the dish was so bad.
Yellow: Chorizo and Potato Empanada with Turmeric Aïoli and Annatto Aïoli from Vibrante & Vívido: Encanto Cocina
This is the best savory dish of the event. It is a massive portion, stuffed full of well-cooked potatoes and chorizo. The sauces add a spicy kick that is not too intense for any palate. An EPCOT snack that can be truly filling. Highly recommended.
Green: Deconstructed Key Lime Pie: Flexible Key Lime Curd, “Key Lime” Mousse, Graham Cracker Cake and Meringues from The Deconstructed Dish
This was top tier. A perfect balance of tartness and sweetness, and the presentation allows you to distribute ingredients as you wish. The cake is moist and flavorful, a highlight for us. You get a nice serving size, and it also takes a great photo.
Blue: Orange Mousse with Lemon Cake and Raspberry Meringues from Deco Delights
We applaud an orange mousse that is many colors but orange. It’s a solid dessert; the mousse is tart as you might expect. The lemon cake was very moist and paired well, while the meringues were hard to break, leading us to smash the lemon cake in the process. It’s fine but not a must-have, especially if you only choose one confection from the selections here.
Indigo: Almond Frangipane Cake layered with Raspberry Jam and Belgian Chocolate from Pop Eats!
This dessert is brilliant in its simplicity. The chocolate icing, exquisitely moist cake, and raspberry jam mix for one of the best festival treats we have ever had. We know it probably sounds dumb to enjoy a fairly regular cake item at an event with rarer dining delicacies, but it was just made so perfectly. Plus it’ll look great on your Instagram.
Violet: Pop’t Art: Sugar Cookie with Blueberry Filling from Figment’s Inspiration Station at the Odyssey: Art, Food and Little Sparks of Magic
It’s very doughy and quite dry. The blueberry flavor isn’t too strong, and the dough takes over the moisture from the blueberry filling. We don’t recommend this.
Reward: Artist Palette Cookie
Like previous years, one of the prizes is an adorable palette cookie. But this year, guests also get a special drink in a souvenir cup. These can be picked up at Deco Delights.
The cookie is a standard sugar cookie with thick, sweet frosting.
This is a slush-like frozen drink. It tastes like a thick V8 fruit juice. It’s not unpleasant but it tastes like there is a thickener in it to keep it “slushy” even when it starts to melt. It’s a very thick, slightly sweet, fruity drink.
The souvenir cup reads “Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine.” An EPCOT-branded paint tube with a stripe of rainbow paint wraps around the cup.
