The End of an Era for Disney’s Laughing Place; Share your best memory of Splash Mountain

The day has finally arrived that many Disney fans have been dreading. It’s the day when Splash Mountain, a fan-favorite attraction that has been in operation for more than 33 years, will take its place in Disney history as a past attraction. No longer will the delighted screams paired with the soundtrack of tumbling water echo through the briar patch, and never again will Disney Parks house their laughing place. Most of us are familiar with the history of this attraction, but more importantly, we have made our own history with it. This ride is a classic; the music and characters are something I am sure many of us will miss, but it’s the nostalgic throwback to our own memories of enjoying this attraction that I will cherish forever.

I was hoping that instead of being sad about the curtain finally closing, we might all take a moment to share our best memories while enjoying the ride. Let’s leave the should they or shouldn’t they rubbish for another day and just look back on the time we had to enjoy it.

One of the best memories that I have shared before was based around my children enjoying the attraction, though today, I am struck by the feeling I had as a youngster myself, riding this for the very first time. It was the most exhilarating experience I had ever had and far better than anything we had at the time here in Australia. I vividly remember coming over the crest just before the big drop, looking out over the park, a view I had never seen before from that vantage point, and thinking, life doesn’t get any better than this. Sure enough, it remained a highlight even all these years later.
