Happy runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon weekend!
The rain this weekend hasn’t stopped the runners from coming out in droves! If you’re running in the event, don’t forget to grab your discount at The Polite Pig and grab your snack packs. However, if you’re in the parks and NOT competing in the race, there’s something you’ve gotta look out for.
If you’re walking around and wondering why foot traffic is so backed up, this could likely be the reason.
One of the perks of running in a runDisney race is that you get to go through the theme parks! Even though the races start early in the morning, longer races like the marathon can impact the parks. For example, in EPCOT today, there are walkways that have been closed off so the runners can use them as their paths. A loooooong line of guests built up while the walkways were blocked off resulted in a big crowd of people. This means that it may take longer to get where you’re going, and…
…you may see crowds like this! This is why runDisney weekends are not always the best times to visit. If you have the ability to choose a different weekend, we recommend it. Unless, of course, you are participating or cheering on a friend!
If you’re thinking of participating in a race this year or in 2024, registration dates have been announced! Be sure to register sooner rather than later though, because these races do sell out! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news.
