Story Highlights

  • TRON Lightcycle / Run will open at Magic Kingdom on April 4

  • No word on when Annual Passholder and DVC Member previews will be held
  • The height requirement is 48 inches

You may have seen Disney Parks’ cryptic social media post yesterday containing cryptic dates that read as top scores for TRON. Some stuck out like a sore thumb for Disney Parks fans – Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Shanghai Disney’s opening dates. If you’re a fan of the TRON movies then you probably noticed the film release dates and Jeff Bridges’ birthday. A few dates left many speculating about the opening for TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom and it looks like it was hidden in the post.

TRON Lightcycle / Run will open at Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland on April 4 – just a day after the return of Happily Ever After fireworks. The post revealed the date, but it was hidden relatively well. The 10th “score” had the initials CM followed by 04,482,023. The best guess for that line was maybe Cast Member previews from April 4-8, but Disney is saying these will happen in the coming weeks. Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Member previews will also happen, but dates and details have not been given yet.

You’ve probably ridden TRON Lightcyle Power Run if you’ve been lucky enough to visit Shanghai Disneyland. This is the second iteration of the ride and it actually plays into a larger story. TRON Lightcycle / Run picks up after TRON: Legacy where Sam Flynn has opened a second gateway into a digital realm called the Grid. The first is the attraction at Shanghai Disney. You’ll feel as if you’re digitized and transported to the Grid for a special Lightcycle race as you enter the queue.

Guests will be on Team Blue going up again the Grid’s Programs on Team Orange. The goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure victory. It is a race, so expect those high speeds because TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park. The roller coaster reaches a top speed of nearly 60 mph! Because of the intense nature, the height requirement will be 48 inches.

It seems like it has taken TRON Lightcycle / Run forever to open, but guests will be entering the Grid very soon and Magic Kingdom will be the hottest park of 2023.
