It’s Monday, which means we are going to flip Saturday’s topic on its head and find out what you think in the opposite direction. We are talking about Disney attractions that age gracefully over the years, and while Saturday was able to show us everyone’s number one attraction on the graceful list, today we are scrolling to the bottom to find out which attraction is showing its age and needs an update.
As your host, I’ll get the ball rolling with one that might not be a popular answer. To me, Disney has come so far with their special effects and ability to magnify the immersive feel of their attractions, and there are a few rides that seem to be quite obviously left behind, one of which is Space Mountain. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love this ride, but I can’t help but think that by now, it could be so much more. The jerky movements and lack of new features make me feel as though it is being left behind in the attractions race. Even so, this didn’t take the top spot for me. The number one on my list of attractions that aren’t aging gracefully is The Tomorrowland Speedway. Although I love the nostalgia of this ride, it contradicts everything that Disney seems to stand for in sustainability, and is quite the hypocritical clash with its surrounding home in “Tomorrowland” given the lack of update to a more modern power source.
