There’s always a reason to celebrate around Disney World!
And Disney loves celebrating with — what else?? FOOD, of course! One of our absolute favorite spots to grab a bite to eat in Disney Springs is Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar, where you’ll find plenty of delicious eats and drinks to whet your whistle with, too. And right now, Jock Lindsay’s is serving up some special eats for Disney’s Celebrate Soulfully event — let’s check them out!
You’ll find TWO eats over at Jock Lindsay’s all February long, as part of the Celebrate Soulfully event that honors Black History Month. First up, we’re trying the Chicken on the Egg — yes, you read that correctly.
This dish consists of deviled eggs topped with buttermilk fried chicken and hot honey sauce. You can get it for $15. But, does this tasty-sounding combo live up to the hype we’ve built in our heads?
We LOVED this combo! The chicken was wonderfully crispy with the delicious sauce that is sweet as honey, but with a buffalo-like heat that tingles on your tongue. The deviled egg is just like any normal egg, but it’s paired wonderfully with the chicken, making an unexpectedly delicious combo. We do think these are a little messy to eat and hard to do so in one bite, and we wish the deviled egg filling was a little thicker, but that’s us being really nit-picky!
Unless you dislike eggs or chicken or aren’t a big fan of unique eats, we highly recommend this dish. Next up, we went for something a little sweeter with the Fried Sweet Potato Pie! It’s a sweet potato-filled pastry with spiced cinnamon sugar, maple bourbon sauce, and roasted pecan crumble for $10.
The sweet potato filling is smooth and spiced to perfection, and the whole treat really tastes like Thanksgiving. However, the sauce has an OVERWHELMING bourbon flavor, and the dough was a little undercooked. We also think this is a big price to pay for only 2 small pies. If you’re not a fan of sweet potatoes or bourbon, we definitely say stay away from this treat, but if you’re a pie fanatic, try it out!
A little savory, a little sweet — you can find them both at Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar all month long. We think it’s definitely worth hopping over to this restaurant to try these out for sure!
Keep in mind that this spot can get pretty busy, especially on the weekends and at night and they don’t take reservations. But trust us — it’s worth the wait! We’ll be bringing you even more reviews of new treats you’ll find around Disney World this month, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
