A façade has been erected around the entrance to the Red Coconut Club in Universal Orlando CityWalk, which will become the Cursed Coconut Club for 2023 Mardi Gras International Flavors of Carnaval.
If you frequent Universal CityWalk, you have likely walked past the Red Coconut Club, one of the popular bars and eateries for guests. Ever since Halloween Horror Nights in 2022, we have started to see overlays occur at the Red Coconut Club, making the bar feel like an all-new experience that guests can enjoy. In 2022 we saw a window display in Universal Studios Florida by the Horror Make-Up Show, hinting at the first-ever overlay of the Dead Coconut Club. Then, one window in the New York section of the park had an Easter egg hinting at the layover of the Green & Red Coconut Club for the holiday season. In mid-January, Madam Basiel’s window in Universal Studios Florida got a Cursed Coconut Club display, teasing the next overlay.
Now spooky archways and walls of fake stone are up outside the club. Tattered fabric hangs in one of the archways, and they are all covered in vines and overgrown plants.
When we next visited the club, banners had been hung from the balconies. They feature neon-colored Voodoo dolls against starry card designs.
If these façades look familiar, that’s because they seem to be made of the same molds or actually be the repainted sets from the Graveyard Deadly Unrest scare zone at Halloween Horror Nights 31.
These archways and walls are white but have similar rounded elements and columns.
Here’s a photo of one of the Graveyard Deadly Unrest walls that looks virtually the same as the ones outside Cursed Coconut club. The archways are a little different from the doorways that scareactors jumped out of.
The banners hanging above the Red Coconut Club entrance read “Cursed Coconut Club.” They also feature neon Voodoo dolls as well as skulls and skeletal animals.
Banners also hang above the adjacent merchandise kiosk, which has Mardi Gras merchandise available. A Green & Red Coconut Club banner is still inside the store, but it will likely come down today.
A sign renames the shop the “Cursed Coconut Market.”
According to Team Members, the Cursed Coconut Club will open at 5:00 p.m. on the first day of Mardi Gras, Saturday, February 4.
Universal’s Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval will begin on February 4th and will last until April 16th. Admission to the event is included in your theme park ticket, which means that offerings such as the parade, concert line-up, performers, and more are all included during your visit!
Speaking of the concert line-up, Universal has just released the 2023 Mardi Gras line-up! If you want to take the first peek, you can do so here! Universal Orlando Resort Mardi Gras Float Ride and Dine Experience tickets are also available, but there has been a big price increase. We have everything you need to know about this popular experience here. The Tribute Store will also be moving this Mardi Gras, and you need to know where Universal will be placing it! We have all the details of its new location here.
