Disneyland Paris is hiring look-alikes to portray Halley Bailey’s live-action Ariel from the upcoming version of “The Little Mermaid.”
Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort are also hiring live-action Ariel look-alikes. While the American job postings are a little more mysterious, the posting for Disneyland Paris states this casting call is for a “character and parade performer.”
The performer should be between 157 cm and 168 cm (5’2”–5’6”) tall, speak English or French, and have significant stage experience. Dance experience is a plus. Check out the Disney Careers website for more information.
This isn’t the first time Disney has specifically sought performers who look like the live-action version of a character who was originally animated, but it is the first time that the character was a different ethnicity than the animated version. The animated Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson) was of course white, while Halle Bailey is Black.
The live-action “The Little Mermaid” hits theaters on May 26, 2023.
