After the cancellation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as part of the Walt Disney Studios Park long-term expansion at Disneyland Paris, speculation about what could replace it has run rampant. Now given the success of “Avatar: The Way of Water” and Disney’s reinvigorated commitment to the franchise, it seems likely Pandora – The World of Avatar will win out against alternative options for the park.
Last September, we reported on a rumor that Pandora and “The Lion King” were the two major contenders to be the newest expansion to Walt Disney Studios Park. We initially believed the latter to be more likely as it would give Walt Disney Studios something unique against the other expansion plans like Arendelle — World of Frozen and Avengers Campus which borrow from expansion plans originally designed for Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Resort respectively.
But given the incredibly positive financial response to “Avatar: The Way of Water” last year and Disney’s sudden announcement of “a version of” Pandora – The World of Avatar coming to the Disneyland Resort, it seems likely the same project would also come to Disneyland Paris to fill that third empty spot in the expansion area.
