The bill that will get rid of the current power structure at Walt Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District as it stands now passed the Florida Senate on Thursday.
The district’s board has five members currently and with the passing of this bill, new board members will be selected by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis once the bills becomes law.
When the bill to dissolve the RCID was passed about a year ago, many folks felt that DeSantis was looking to punish Disney for its stance on the commonly referred to “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
This new bill seemingly gives DeSantis the freedom of choosing the new board members, which some opponents see as a “power grab.”
We’ll continue to provide updates to this story as they become available.
