The new Hogwarts Legacy video game features an Easter egg referencing The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
TikTok user @joanslytherin shared a video comparing footage from the game to video taken at Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. Players can walk and fly around architecture taken directly from the Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure queue and coaster, including archways and towers. There are also bas-reliefs in both the game and the land.
Much of this architecture was originally constructed for the Duelling Dragons roller-coaster in 1999. The coaster was re-themed to “Harry Potter” and became Dragon Challenge in 2010. Though Dragon Challenge closed in 2017 and the two coaster tracks were torn down, some of the structures remained for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which is a completely new coaster in the same spot.
Since opening in 2019, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure has had a fair share of operational issues and temporary closures due to fires, bee infestations, and more. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will be closing for refurbishment later this month. During Hurricane Ian in September 2022, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure sustained damage. While it did not cause the ride to close, part of the queue has been diverted. A section of ramp in the queue has been blocked off with temporary walls and scrim. A bridge takes guests over a stone wall through trees to bypass that section. We’ve also seen some barricades on the inside walls near the coaster track while on the ride.
