It’s time to celebrate Mardi Gras!
At Disney World, THE place to be for these celebrations is Port Orleans Resort! Guests can take part in themed activities at the resorts (like checking out a super unique parade), listen to exciting jazz music, and even enjoy tasty treats. If you don’t know that these celebrations are going on, you might have totally missed them — they’re a bit of a secret! But now that you’re “in the know,” join us as we check out 2 of the treats available there and see if either is worth your cash.
First up, we just had to grab a King Cake — a true Mardi Gras staple — at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter.
It was available at a pop-up bar/snack spot at the Resort, along with some other goodies. (Note that the King Cake is also listed on the menu for Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory so you can find it there as well. We’ve spotted these on the menu there in years past, so they aren’t particularly new, but still festive for the occasion!)
The mini King Cake is a cake with festive yellow, purple, and green icing and sprinkles. They are available for $5.29 each.
We thought the flavors in this were great. We could taste the cinnamon, which really elevated this from just a normal bundt cake. Essentially it captured the flavors of a cinnamon roll in the flavors of a mini bundt cake. The icing added some extra sugar (in a good way) and the sugary sprinkles were a nice touch.

You might want to pair this with a beverage to make it a bit better. Truthfully though, we think there is a better alternative here — the Tiana milkshake at Hollywood Scoops (in Disney’s Hollywood Studios) which comes with a King Cake Cupcake of its own. We much preferred that treat to this King Cake at French Quarter, so consider stopping by Hollywood Scoops during your next trip to try that instead (it’ll be available through the end of March).
But, we couldn’t leave French Quarter without grabbing a beignet. Scat Cat’s Club Cafe had special Mickey Beignets with Mardi Gras sprinkles on top with a generous amount of icing. Each one is $3.99.
We got ours fresh so it was piping hot (yum!). The fried dough was wonderfully pillowy. Basically, it captured that nice, hot, and doughy beignet but instead of powdered sugar, there was some icing. The sprinkles added a nice crunch to this soft treat and were a fun decorative element.
You can’t let the good times roll without a Mickey beignet It’s the rules!

Overall, it’s a good pick for those who love beignets, sprinkles, and icing. But be warned that it can get a little messy, so pick up some napkins!
What do you think about these treats? Would you make a trip over to French Quarter on Mardi Gras just to try them? Did you even know Mardi Gras celebrations take place over there? Tell us in the comments! It’s a good reminder to look around you for hidden items because you never know what you might find!
