While Disney World is prone to lots of storms and potential hurricanes, Disneyland has its days as well. Today is DEFINITELY one of those days — here’s why today is NOT a good day to be in Disneyland.
There are flood watches in effect currently in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, meaning it’s POURING. Storms in Disney parks cause many outdoor rides close down for the safety of guests and to keep the rides in top condition. This means that in Disneyland right now, there are TONS of rides down.
Lots of closed rides
Normally this means that the wait times of interior rides would skyrocket, but on as gross of a day as this, wait times are incredibly low. Many guests are likely avoiding the parks today to stay dry.
SO low!
Disney parks are known for being able to withstand a lot but to show you how bad the weather really is in the area, TWO other theme parks in the area have closed their doors for the day. Knott’s Berry Farm is closed today…
Due to inclement weather, #KnottsBerryFarm is closed today (Saturday, February 25). Select California Marketplace locations will remain open until 6pm. pic.twitter.com/mASSk5OP5u
Two new figures are available for purchase at Walt Disney World for the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. The first is a Disney100 platinum Oswald figure, and the second is a Mickey figure part of the Disney100 The Eras: Walt Disney Studios Collection.
The temporary location for Earl of Sandwich opened its doors at Downtown Disney at the beginning of February, and now we’ve seen signage installed for the soon-to-open sit-down side of the restaurant, the Earl of Sandwich Tavern. What’s Happening: Since February 1st, Downtown Disney guests have been able to enjoy Earl of Sandwich through its usual […]
Photographer bioreconstruct has shared more aerial photos of Epic Universe construction. Epic Universe will be a new Universal Orlando Resort theme park, scheduled to open in the summer of 2025. So far, the only land officially announced for the park is Super Nintendo World. The other rumored lands are “How to Train Your Dragon,” Universal Classic Monsters, and a third Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Epic Universe Overall Construction
This aerial photo shows the construction of Epic Universe with the rest of Universal Orlando Resort in the distance. Epic Universe will have its own parking lot instead of guests having to park at the CityWalk garages. The numbers provided by bioreconstruct label the following:
Islands of Adventure
Aventura Hotel
Dockside Inn
Kirkman Rd
Epic Blvd, at intersection to a new UOR hotel
Transportation plaza
Epic Universe park entrance
In-park hotel
Kirkman Road is being extended to connect to the resort. The photo above shows construction of the extension between Sand Lake Road and Universal Blvd. Here are the number labels:
Overpass of private Lockheed Martin road
In-park hotel overpass of park service road
New Universal Orlando hotel
Epic Universe guest parking
Team Member parking and office building
The hotels at #2 and #3 are separate, with #2 connecting directly to the park. Guests staying at the in-park hotel will have their own parking lot and entrance.
This photo shows an overview of the entire park. The in-park hotel will be on the edge of the lake at the top of the photo. The themed lands will be to either side of a central corridor featuring multiple bodies of water.
Compare to the concept art, which also has the in-park hotel at the top. Assuming that the rumors are true, Super Nintendo World is at the bottom left, Classic Monsters land is at the top left, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is at the top right, and How to Train Your Dragon is at the bottom right. The dual-racing coaster is between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and How to Train Your Dragon but not part of either land.
Dual-Racing Coaster
Significantly more track has been installed for the dual-racing coaster since our January construction update. There are now tall yellow loops.
In this straight-above photo, the dual-racing coaster is at the bottom, while the How to Train Your Dragon coaster, covered in protective tubing, is above.
The roller-coaster trains will enter these loops from the right side of this photo.
More track is yet to be installed on the tall supports to the right of the loops. The tracks at either end of the building in the center of the photo will eventually be connected.
In the photo above is where guests will return to the unloading station. The track is covered in black protective tubing right now where it enters the unfinished building.
The tall hill at the center here is referred to as a “top hat hill,” meaning the cars go up at approximately a 90-degree angle and then descend the other side at the same angle. The dual-racing tracks cross over each other several times immediately after the top hat hill.
This higher-up view shows the How to Train Your Dragon land to the left and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to the right, with the dual-racing coaster in the center. Guests will reach the coaster from the central corridor at the top of this photo.
In the above photo:

Here’s an overhead look at the entire How to Train Your Dragon land, with it’s coaster and the dual-racing coaster at the bottom right.

The Great Hall
Theater attraction
Dual-racing coaster, not in the land
The land entrances will all be portal-like, matching Super Nintendo World’s warp pipe entrance.
Some of the How to Train Your Dragon coaster is covered for protection, but not all of it. This coaster will cross over a guest walkway and skim bodies of water.
There will be a theater in the land, which is quickly taking shape. For now, there are just two concrete walls around the theater and no roof.
The building on the right in the photo above is rumored to be a quick-service restaurant.
Large statues are being constructed near the entrance to the How to Train Your Dragon land, next to the roller-coaster track. These mirror statues in the films, with horned Viking helmets, swords, and shields.
Bioreconstruct also points out structures in this area that seem to be the beginnings of ships.
A tiered hillside, taking shape to the right in this photo, will lead up to the land’s Great Hall, which may be a restaurant. The hall is the circle with six columns near the center of this photo. The building in the background is the service building for the roller-coaster.
Classic Monsters
The rumored Classic Monsters land will have a slightly smaller coaster than the others and the track has been installed. As bioreconstruct writes, “It’s believed to have a launch in area of the curved track to send riders back through where they came from, before full momentum back to the station.”
The station resembles a barn. The land will reportedly also have a village and mansion.
White tubes cover some of the track to protect it from future construction.
The coaster is also thought to be a spinner.
Central Corridor
This gray building is a restaurant in the central corridor. It has two rounded awnings at the front.
The concept art shows domed structures down the center of the park. Circular foundations have already been established for these. One is thought to be a spinning attraction.
In-Park Hotel
Short concrete walls create the curve of the future in-park hotel, which will face a fountain — just a concrete circle right now.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The new Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be inspired by the Parisian version of Diagon Alley, Place Cachée, seen in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” An alley surrounded by tall buildings is already clear. The arrow in the photo above points to a new steel frame for more building façades.
The photo above shows the main courtyard of Super Nintendo World at the center. The building in the top right is a gift shop in the central corridor of Super Nintendo World.
This is the beginning of the warp pipe tunnel entrance to Super Nintendo World.
The yellow track in this photo is for Yoshi’s Adventure, a slow-moving attraction that will take guests on a scenic look at Super Nintendo World. Colorful weather-proof sheathing has been installed on some of the walls around it.
A curved section of track sticks out from the land, with some concrete walls around one side of it. Some of the track is actually fake and will be used to simulate cars jumping from one track to another.

For once, a new TikTok video doesn’t feature a guest misbehaving, but a character. TikTok user @dlp_pass_infinity_tours shared a video of Tigger on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park in Paris running wild with a handful of Mickey balloons while a Cast Member chases him down.
The caption, “Pov : Quand Tigrou vole 200€ de ballon”, translates to “Pov : When Tigger steals €200 of balloons.”
At the end of the video, the Cast Member retrieves their balloons and admonishes Tigger, who then gives hugs and kisses to the other balloon Cast Members.
As always, we don’t recommend guests engage in such behavior, but it looks like Tigger and the Cast Members were having fun.
We bet you’ve been keeping up with all the news about the series since season 2 was confirmed. That’s right, Scott Calvin and his family are returning to the North Pole, but this time, he’ll have a few MORE people with him. A NEW actor has been cast for the show!
According to Variety, Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) will be joining The Santa Clauses for season 2. He’ll be playing Magnus Antas, aka the Mad Santa, who was Santa during the 14th century — now he’s come back to take back that role and the North Pole. So, he’s like an evil Santa…ooh, we’re intrigued!
He’ll join returning cast members Tim Allen as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus, Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus, Austin Kane as Cal Calvin Claus, Matilda Lawler as Betty, and Devin Bright as Noel. Guest stars for season 2 will include Marta Kessler as Olga, a gnome who is Magnus’ sidekick. Other returning guest stars include Liam Kyle as Gary, Isabella Bennett as Edie, Sasha Knight as Crouton, Ruby Jay as Riley, Mia Lynn Bangunan as Pontoon, and Laura San Giacomo as La Befana.
Season 2 will pick up shortly after season 1 after the Calvins saved Christmas (again). He’ll be focusing on training his son to take over as Santa when he retires. Disney has not mentioned a release date for the season 2 premiere, but we’ll let you know when Disney announces it.

If you’ve never been, you might not know where to start. There are a lot of attractions, and if you’re only spending a half day here you’re probably interested in what to prioritize. We took a look at what real Disney guests think and have ranked all of Typhoon Lagoon’s attractions!
11. Bay Slides
This area is for younger kids who are interested in water slides but not quite ready for the larger rides. There are two slides at Bay Slides, offering a short ride down their downhill slopes with a big splash at the end.
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
These slides are for kids 60 inches or shorter. This area is ranked last mostly because it only appeals to a small population of guests, but if you have a child who wants to foray into water rides they just might love the Bay Slides!
10. Storm Slides
Next on the list are the Storm Slides. These are essentially the grown-up version of Bay Slides, with three different slides: Jib Jammer, Stern Burner, and Rudder Buster. The slides twist and turn on their way down, traveling through the scenery of the park.
Typhoon Lagoon Storm Slides
These slides are pretty basic, with the main appeal being the waterfall at the end. While there’s nothing terribly wrong with them, there are more exciting and unique attractions in Typhoon Lagoon to try out.
9. Humunga Kowabunga
This is the fastest and steepest water slide in Typhoon Lagoon. Riders will plummet down a 5-story dropcompletely in the dark, so this attraction is not for the faint of heart.
View from Miss Tilly’s
While this ride provides plenty of thrills, due to its design it’s pretty short, so if you’re looking for an activity that will take up some time (or don’t want to wait in a super long line for only a few seconds of excitement) you might want to pick a raft ride instead. However, if you love thrills you should try this one out!
8. Ketchakiddee Creek
Ketchakiddee Creek is another area for younger kids. It’s essentially a water playground, with fountains, mini water slides, and even a water cannon! Kids 4-feet and under can enjoy this splash zone.
This area is definitely more exciting than the Bay Slides. There’s plenty of shallow water for splashing, and a small beach area provides more fun and entertainment. Many guardians appreciate having an area just for smaller children away from the activities that require more advanced swimming skills.
7. Keelhaul Falls
Keelhaul Falls is a single-rider tube slide that often has short lines, especially early in the morning. This ride is suitable for all heights and ages, so everyone in the family can enjoy!
Typhoon Lagoon Bridge
This ride is designed to mimic a journey down white water rapids with a lot less danger. You’ll go through caverns and waterfalls before landing in the splash pool at the very end. Keelhaul Falls is a good middle of the road attraction that provides mild thrills without being too scary.
6. Miss Adventure Falls
If your family or group wants to hop on a ride together, they can enjoy Miss Adventure Falls, a 4-person raft ride. Another attraction open to all, this ride is “owned” by Captain Mary Oceaneer whose treasure was scattered thanks to the typhoon.
As you journey down the slide you might notice some of her artifacts scattered about. Watch out for the waterfalls! This ride is a good pick for families with kids who want to experience a raft ride but aren’t ready to ride one alone just yet.
5. Mayday Falls
Mayday Falls is a single-rider tube slide whose claim to fame is being both the highest and longest water slide at Typhoon Lagoon. Get ready for high speeds with plenty of bumps!
This is the most intense raft ride thanks to its height, bumps, and many twists and turns. One thing to keep in mind is that due to its height it’s a bit of a haul up the stairs, especially considering you’ll be carrying your inner tube. However, many guests agree the trek is worth it!
4. Crush ‘n’ Gusher
Another spot with multiple slides, Crush ‘n’ Gusher is more of a roller coaster-raft ride combo and is a popular choice for favorite ride in Typhoon Lagoon. When you embark you’re sailing into an abandoned fruit-processing plant — you’ll get to pick from three different “fruit chutes” before plummeting down.
Each tube holds 2 people, so grab your favorite trip buddy and hop in! Several guests shared that no matter which chute they picked they still had a great time. If you like fast-moving slides where you’re fully zooming down to the bottom, don’t skip this one.
3. Gangplank Falls
The second of the park’s group rides, Gangplank Falls allows guests to ride an oversized inner tube on a beautiful route down the side of a mountain. The entire slide is nearly 300-feet long and plenty wide, so expect a lot of twisting and turning as you make your way down.
While this ride doesn’t offer much in the way of thrills, it’s still a great family ride. Even those who prefer more adventurous slides can enjoy Gangplank Falls. It’s still relatively fast (not as slow as a lazy river) plus you get to ride a conveyor belt up to the top!
2. Castaway Creek
Speaking of lazy rivers, Castaway Creek is coming in at number 2 on this ranking. Plenty of guests like to use water park days as a chance to relax, and there are few things more relaxing than lounging in a tube as you meander along this slow-moving course.
Castaway Creek
Reviewers shared they like to take a break from all of the excitement of a Disney vacation by floating along Castaway Creek. There’s plenty of shade, lovely scenery, and thanks to its never ending loop you can close your eyes and relax as long as you need.
1. Surf Pool
Wave pools are a water park staple. That’s one reason why guests love Typhoon Lagoon’s Surf Pool! Guests of all ages can wade in to the depth they’re comfortable with and cool off from the Florida heat. While some might think wave pools aren’t exciting, this isn’t your average one!
Surf Pool
Many reviewers noted how surprised they were at how great this wave pool is. We wouldn’t say the waves are massive (they wouldn’t sweep anyone away) but they are much stronger than your typical wave pool. The deeper you venture into the pool, the stronger the waves get, so you’re not just floating on the surface slightly bobbing up every so often. The Surf Pool is great for people of all ages and the perfect area to rest in between rides!
There’s plenty to see and do at Typhoon Lagoon, and keep in mind that one ride that might suit one group might not be someone else’s cup of tea. Try out different attractions; you never know, you just might find a new favorite!
