First Performance of ‘Magic Happens’ Since 2020 Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather at Disneyland

This is not when magic happens, it seems. Nearly three years since its initial two-week run began at Disneyland only to be cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, “Magic Happens” is suffering a bit of bad luck as its initial return performance has been cancelled due to bad weather in the Los Angeles area.

Magichappenscancellednotif

Notifications were sent out to Disneyland Park guests today through the Disneyland app with the heading “Pardon the Inconvenience” moments ago. This was followed by “We apologize: Due to weather conditions, the “Magic Happens” Parade performances at Disneyland Park have been cancelled.”

The Weather Channel forecasts that in the Anaheim area it will rain all day today, and winds are gusting in excess of 20mph, an unsafe level for the parade even without the rain. The rain is set to continue tomorrow, although winds will be at a much more manageable 8mph most of the day.

While a Cast Member preview did take place on Wednesday evening, this was to be the first public performance of the parade since March 12, 2020 when the resort paused live entertainment before shuttering due the COVID-19 pandemic, a mere 15 days after its first performance on February 27, 2020.

The return of “Magic Happens” has been highly anticipated by fans, and was finally announced at D23 Expo 2022 last year after a year of speculation on its return.

“Magic Happens” features stunning floats with Disney characters, imaginative (and extremely catchy) music co-composed by singer-songwriter Todrick Hall, artistic costumes, and modern choreography. The parade is unique in that it’s able to run both during the day and at night thanks to lighting on the floats. Plenty of properties are represented in the parade, including “Moana,” “Coco,” “Frozen,” and “The Sword in the Stone.”

You can watch the daytime version of the parade above.

Like We Needed ANOTHER Reason To RUN to Disney Springs

Spring and summer are on the way, and that means HOT days at Disney are on the horizon.

It just SCREAMS summer!

We wouldn’t be Disney food experts without also recommending the newest beverages at Disney, would we? With those hot days coming, we’re here to help you find refreshing drinks that’ll hopefully have you feeling a little less… like you just walked 12 miles in one day.

The Boathouse at Disney Springs just got a brand new brew! Duck Duck Beer is an exclusive brew from Sailfish Brewing that is quoted to be “bright and light” — great for hot days at Disney.

Even if you aren’t a beer drinker, you have to admit that the can is pretty cute! The duck artwork on the can matches some other theming known to Boathouse regulars! Boathouse’s Duck Duck Razz is one of the most popular drinks at Disney Springs — a blue curaçao drink with a peach schnapps and raspberry vodka base, topped with a tiny rubber ducky!

The infamous Duck Duck Razz!

Well, at least you know Boathouse has you covered if you’re looking for refreshing drinks this summer! Or if you’re looking for a souvenir duck?

MORE Changes Are Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk Soon

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has been going through a lot of changes lately.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

The resort lobby recently got a new coffee shop, newly refurbished rooms are underway, and there’s a NEW table service restaurant coming to the BoardWalk later this year! Now, there’s news of even more construction and closures coming to this resort that might affect your experience soon.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn has had quite a bit of construction lately all around the resort — their lobby bathrooms, the Luna Park Pool slide, and more have all seen closures recently. Now, Disney has shared that the Concierge Lounge will also be closing for refurbishment starting March 11th. While we don’t have an exact date that it will reopen, we do know that it will last until the end of April.

Disney warned that guests will be able to hear construction in the surrounding areas during daytime hours, but that “nighttime work should not be audible to guests in their rooms.

The Concierge Lounge is a benefit for those staying in club-level rooms that offer some special amenities, like continental breakfast in the morning, light snacks in the afternoon, and desserts and cordials in the evening. Keep this in mind if you were hoping to take advantage of these perks in the next couple of months!

We’ll keep an eye out for any new updates about this resort renovation, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Important CHANGE Made To How You Buy Merchandise at Disneyland

Disney is all about making things convenient for its guests. One super helpful perk at Disney is the ability to have merchandise or food and beverage charged and delivered to your hotel room!

Did you know you could just charge merchandise in the parks to your room?

Previously, guests could show their hotel key card at a merchandise or food and beverage location to have it charged or delivered, but Disney just announced that this would soon change.

After February 28th, 2023, guests wishing to charge items to their hotel room at Disneyland must do so by using the Disneyland app. You will no longer be able to charge items to your hotel room using a hotel key. Disney shared the information with travel agents recently.

Disneyland Hotel

From the My Hotel Reservation screen in the Disneyland app, guests will be able to access a barcode that participating locations can scan to charge an item to the hotel room. The good news is, gone are the days of having to carry a hotel key around with you! For the most part, you can use your phone for mostly everything at Disney!

They really do just get lost anyway
