More Splash Mountain signage has been removed from the queue as demolition continues to transform the attraction into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom.
Splash Mountain Signage Removal
The first place we spotted Splash Mountain signage removed was from the stand-by entrance signpost.
A sign reading “Splash Mountain” was formerly mounted above the purple sign and below the small birdhouse. You can see the discoloration of the wood from where the sign used to be.
The photo below shows the sign in place a few days ago.
The decal with the Splash Mountain logo remains in place on the Lightning Lane sign at this time.
The other sign removed was mounted over the door here. It was a large wooden sign featuring Br’er Rabbit.
The sign was in place earlier this week, as seen in the picture below.
Façade Demolition
The original hole cut into the rockwork has been expanded again, with much of the rockwork by the track removed.
The faux rock mountainside has been cut away and the wire mesh framing is exposed.
Splash Mountain was due for mechanical refurbishment, and this area was likely demolished to give access to a specific part of the system.
Other Work
Electrical work is being done on the Lightning Lane panel. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to have Lightning Lane, so this is likely just regular updating or maintenance rather than removal.
The Laughing Place sign has been removed from the nearby play area, which otherwise remains open at this time. The pressed penny machine featuring Splash Mountain designs was removed initially but has since been relocated.
Disney says that in the upcoming attraction, guests will “join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans.”
The attraction takes place after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” Tiana’s Foods is an employee-owned community food co-op established by Tiana in 1927, following the success of her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. The co-op is housed inside a salt mine, with growers planting crops along the old Splash Mountain waterway. Guests will ascend through a mill house built into the side of the mountain.

Walt Disney World saw a bittersweet day on January 23, 2023, when the iconic Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom closed to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Princess and the Frog will be celebrating its 15th Anniversary by the time the new ride opens in 2024, but if you can’t wait until then to get your Tiana fix, let’s dig a little deeper to see what magical experiences, snacks, and accommodations WDW has to offer for fans of the princess!
Meet Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall
As character meet and greets slowly return to the parks, one you can count on is meeting a princess or two at Princess Fairytale Hall just behind Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom.
Tiana can be found hosting her own meet and greet at the hall, donning her classic green gown and typically joined by a visiting princess.
Snack on Beignets
When she’s not hopping around the swampland as a frog, Tiana is best known as an aspiring restaurant owner, best known for making delicious beignets.
While these beignets may not be made by Tiana herself, you can enjoy the popular New Orlean snack at Scat Cat’s Club, located at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, and some are even served Mickey-shaped!
Festival of Fantasy Parade
Since 2014, Main Street, U.S.A., has been greeted daily by enchanted princes and princesses, creatures from under the sea, and a fire-breathing maleficent during the Festival of Fantasy parade.
Just after Belle and Beast lead the start of the parade, you can catch Tiana and Naveen dancing to the music on one side of a float that also occupies Anna and Elsa.
Stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort
If you’re looking to live as Tiana does in the Big Easy, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort mimics the down-home vibe and jazzy music scene of New Orleans with its picturesque scenery and NoLa-inspired eats.
And if you’re looking for even more Princess Tiana during your resort stay, be sure to book the Royal Guest Room, where you’ll be greeted by Aladdin’s Magic Carpet, flickering headboards, and portraits of your favorite princesses, including a full-length, framed photo of Tiana.
Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire
Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is a Castle stage show starring Mickey and his friends as they join some well-known Disney royalty for a show full of singing and dancing.
Along with Rapunzel and Flynn performing “I Have A Dream” with their pals from The Snuggly Duckling and Anna, Elsa, and Olaf coming together for some Frozen classics, you’ll also catch Tiana, Naveen, and Louis jamming out to “Dig A Little Deeper” with Goofy!
We recently reported that Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe at Magic Kingdom had been split in half as construction walls and scrim blocked the center section. The walls and scrim have been removed, and new flooring has been revealed.
Flooring Replacement
The shop is located in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. It has multiple entrances. The above entrance in the middle of the shop was closed during the refurbishment.
The center section is reopened and has newly installed flooring.
The wood grain style matches the remaining flooring but in a lighter shade.
The brick portion of the floor remains unchanged at this time.
It’s unconfirmed but seems likely that the rest of the old flooring will be replaced.
You can see the one of the areas that still has the previous dark stain at the bottom of the above photo.
What do you think about the new look for Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe? Let us know in the comments.
