When planning your Disney trip, thinking about transportation in advance is critical to ensure that your vacation is as seamless and stress-free as possible.

In addition to learning the ins and outs of getting around Disney World during your stay, you need to decide how you will get to your hotel from the airport. Disney World used to have the Magical Express — a bus service that picked you (and your luggage) up at the airport and took you straight to your Disney World Resort — for free! But that service ended in 2021, so if you haven’t been to Disney World since then, know that you’ll need to plan for your own airport transfers. Don’t worry, though! We have a complete guide that lays out all your options here.

We already know what you’re thinking: Can’t I just Uber? The answer to that is YES! Just like at any other airport, you can use Uber to get a ride from the Orlando Airport to Disney World.

We’re bringing you this post to tell you everything you need to know about Ubering to Disney World from the Orlando airport.

Uber App

If you have not used Uber before, you will need to download the Uber app to your smartphone and create an account. The app is free to download, and creating an account is free, as well. When you create your account, you will be asked to link the app to a form of payment — you can choose to link a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, Paypal, Venmo, or Uber gift cards. You won’t be charged until you book a ride.

Car Types

When scheduling your Uber, there are multiple options for you to choose based on the amount of people in your travel party and the type of service you’d like to receive. These are the car types that you can choose from when traveling from the Orlando airport to Disney:

UberX

UberX is your most basic Uber option. This is an affordable option for those traveling with four people or less. Typically, these vehicles are smaller sedans that include numerous years, makes, and models of cars.

Most common are sedans!

UberXL

This is the basic Uber option for those traveling with four to six people. Like the UberX, these cars can be any make, year, and model — but with more space. These are typically SUVs, crossovers, and minivans.

Comfort

This is a more deluxe option than a basic Uber. These rides are newer models and typically have more leg room.

Uber Pet

This is just like UberX (any year, make, and model that sits four people) but you can bring your pet along!

Black

This is Uber’s luxury vehicle service that sits up to four people. These are newer models of luxury vehicles that are driven by professional drivers.

Price and Surge Pricing

The price of an Uber depends heavily on demand for Ubers in your area, the duration of your ride, and the amount of traffic on the road to your destination. Uber will implement “surge pricing” during rush hour and times of high-demand, so try to avoid rush hour when selecting an Uber pick-up.

Below are the prices of each Uber service as of February 1st, 2023. These services are from the Orlando airport to Disney’s Boardwalk.

UberX: $37.92

Uber XL: $52.90

Comfort: $47.21

Uber Pet: $41.64

Black: $79.15

During rush hour, we have seen the prices of an UberX soar above $60, so it’s crucial to consider popular travel times. (Reiterating that again because these can get EXPENSIVE.)

Safety

Personal Safety

When considering Uber transportation, safety is often a huge concern. We use Uber quite often, so we’ve picked up some tips to ensure safe transportation.

1. When ordering an Uber, the license plate number of the car will be provided. Check to make sure that this number aligns with the number on the license plate of the car. It’s rare, but people have been known to pose as Uber drivers with plans to potentially harm riders. We try to keep things positive here at DFB, but we’d rather you all be safe. It is CRUCIAL to know you are stepping into the correct vehicle.
2. Always check the rating of your Uber driver. This is a great way to get an idea of the quality of service provided, whether or not the driver has made others uncomfortable, and driving skills.

Health Safety Regarding COVID-19

Many Uber drivers request that masks be worn inside their vehicle and provide sanitizing wipes for you to wipe down seats and handles after your service is complete.

Pros and Cons

When deciding whether or not to use an Uber service to deliver you from the Orlando airport to Disney World, it’s easier to look at a list of pros and cons! These are some of our personal pros and cons that we’ve come across while Ubering to Disney World.

Pros:

• Minimal planning
• Convenient
• Passengers from only YOUR party
• CAN be cost efficient
• Reliable
• Ability to choose an option that works best for you

Cons:

• Price surging during busier hours
• Can be crowded in the car
• Based on demand, Ubers can take a while to arrive

Could we see the return of a popular Pirates of the Caribbean character?

In a recent interview, Orlando Bloom gave his thoughts on the role he played within the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and whether that is something he would be open to revisiting in the future.

In a recent interview with Parade.com, Orlando Bloom was asked about his work on previous fantasy film franchises and if he would be willing to revisit one of those roles.

Bloom was originally talking about the final season of his current work in Carnival Row and what upcoming projects he has been busy working on. He talked about a few projects that he’s recently wrapped up, how he loves being a dad and spending time with his family, and all of the places he had visited recently while working.

When the interviewer turned the conversation to some of his previous works in fantasy, like Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, he was asked about the characters he played in each and revisiting one of those roles. The answer he gave could have Pirates of the Caribbean fans all a-gossip!

Bloom said, “…and I think Will [Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean]—I mean Will’s so great. I wouldn’t mind seeing what Will looked like today in some ways, because he was such this earnest guy, but after rumbling around the bottom of the ocean for as long as he would have done at this point, it’d be interesting to see how he surfaces and what he’s like.”

When we last left off with Will Turner in the Pirates films, he was doomed to serve out the remainder of his father’s sentence ushering souls across the bottom of the ocean and captaining an oceanic cursed crew. It would be interesting to see a fast-forward into further years, how that would affect his family (and his young son), and if that debt could stand a chance at being repaid and in turn break the curse.

Only time will tell for what we could and hope to expect of any further Pirates of the Caribbean films as not much has been officially announced for future plans on any returning characters.

Galaxy’s Edge is a popular destination for fans of the Star Wars franchise. Walking around this land, you might just feel like you’ve entered one of the films!

Princess Leia’s Lightsaber

Disney worked hard to create an immersive experience, giving guests the chance to fight the Empire, drink blue milk, and even build their own lightsabers! If you’re a fan of the iconic Star Wars weapons, there’s some BIG news you need to know about.

For a while, these lightsabers were only available in the parks. While you could purchase replicas of the lightsabers wielded by characters like Leia and Darth Vader, the parts used for the lightsaber-building experience at Savi’s Workshop were unique and couldn’t be found elsewhere. If you haven’t gotten the chance to snag a spot at the workshop, we have some good news for you! Disney’s online site, shopDisney, is now carrying two of the lightsaber hilts from the parks. These were designed especially for the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, making them particularly sought-after collectibles.

The Luminara Unduli Legacy LIGHTSABER Hilt is a silver and gold hilt that comes in a white case with the Jedi Order symbol on the front. This lightsaber belonged to Mirialan Jedi Master Luminara Unduli, and when you attach a Lightsaber Blade (sold separately) and press the switch, the blade will glow green. Unfortunately, the blades are sold out online at the moment.

The display cases these hilts arrive in are lined to protect their exteriors. The switch on the hilt also creates authentic lightsaber sounds, so you don’t have to create them on your own anymore (although we’ve heard that makes them more effective! ).

The other Legacy Hilt is inspired by the lightsaber carried by Kel Dor Jedi Master Plo Koon. This hilt is silver with black and blue accents and comes in a dark gray case. The Jedi symbol on the front is a coordinating blue.

Last week we gave you a sneak peek at the upcoming Disney100 Decades collection. The first in the series of ten, the 1920s featuring Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie, was released earlier this week.

We found this Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie Ear Headband at Bayview Gifts at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It is also available for sale on shopDisney.com.

Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie Ear Headband for Adults – Disney100 – Series 1 of 10 – $39.99

Reflecting this 1928 animated short, the ears are in black and white with Mickey Mouse and Pete on the front of the ears.

The front of the ears features Mickey Mouse at the wheel on one ear and Pete confronting Mickey on the opposite ear. The edges of the ears and headband trimmed in white twisted nautical cording.

Both ears are generously padded in twill. On this ear, Mickey is at the wheel of the steam river sidewheeler whistling Steamboat Bill. The black and white image is silkscreened onto the fabric.

The ear headband also includes various 3-D elements. As he is whistling, above Mickey is a 3-D musical note, and behind him is a 3-D life preserver.

The opposite ear has another well-known scene from the animated short, Pete, the actual captain, face-to-face with Mickey on the bridge of the steamboat. The 3-D musical note and life preserver are also on this ear.

The ears on the back of the headband are also decorated. One side features Mickey in the middle of a life preserver. The opposite ear has a silkscreened image of the steamboat with 3-D musical notes rising from the boat.

Black twill covers the outside of the headband. A “Disney100 Decades” tag is attached to the back.

Non-slip black velour covers the inside of the headband keeping it secure on the head. This headband, which measures 11 1/4” H x 8 1/2” W x 1 1/2” D, will fit most adult heads.

The back of the “Disney100 Series” tag states the number of the collection in the series.

On one side of the headband is a ”platinum” finish metal ”Disney100 Decades” logo plate.

A hangtag describes what the Decades collection is, as well as information about the specific collection. Mickey Mouse and Pete debuted in Hollywood’s first ”talkie” cartoon, Walt Disney’s “Steamboat Willie,” on November 18, 1928.

Other items in the collection include a Disney100 Decades Collection “Steamboat Willie” MagicBand+, a Disney100 Decades Collection “Steamboat Willie” Loungefly Mini Backpack, a Disney100 Decades Collection “Steamboat Willie” Limited Release Pin, Disney100 Decades Collection “Steamboat Willie” Mickey & Minnie Plush Set, and a Disney100 Decades Collection “Steamboat Willie” Musical Boat.

The Disney100 1930s Decades Collection, which will be released on March 20, is inspired by “The Band Concert.”
