See the Latest CHANGES to the ‘Moana’ Attraction in Disney World
If you haven’t been to EPCOT in a while, then you might be surprised by some of the big changes in the park!
In the past few years, EPCOT has added two new rides, multiple new restaurants, a new gift shop, and a reimagined Club Cool. But there’s so much more to come! The middle of the park is currently under construction as they add more new attractions and offerings, and we’re sharing an updated look at the construction progress.
If you take a ride on the monorail heading into EPCOT, you’ll be able to look over the construction walls and see what’s going on. The first construction project you’ll come across is the work being done next to Guest Relations. This area was formerly a walkway to World Discovery, but has been blocked off since Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened last year.
We’ve been watching the slow progress behind these walls for a while, hoping that they’ll eventually reopen the walkway. It would be much easier to get to that side of the park if they did! No concrete has been poured here yet, but it looks like they’ve been working on getting the ground leveled out.
As the monorail circles the park, you get a nice, broad look at everything happening in the middle of World Celebration. It looks like they’re starting to form the basis of CommuniCore Plaza, with a new cinder block wall going up and a large pile of dirt at the ready.
But one of the most interesting changes this week is at CommuniCore Hall, where metal supports were added to the side of the building. When we walked by this spot at night, we also noticed that there were working electrical lights inside!
We’ve also noticed a little bit of work being done on the area between CommuniCore Hall and Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. It’s likely that this will remain open to be a walkway between the attractions and various areas of this land.
Moving on to Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, we spotted construction workers walking throughout the part of the attraction that looked to be more finished. This whole side of the walkthrough experience has concrete pathways, greenery, and completed rockwork.
The other side of the attraction is still a work in progress. It looks as though the next set of planters has been marked off so that the pathways are more clear. Also, more light fixtures were installed.
And then of course, there’s the barrier to the attraction. We’ve noticed more trees getting planted along the exterior wall. Recently, trees were added along a wall opposite Journey of Water as well. This seems to mark off another space for a large walkway.
Between Journey of Water and Spaceship Earth, there are two large pavilions with lots of pipes and equipment. It looks like this will be a backstage area blocked from guests — it’s possible that these are the pipes and pumps that supply water to the attraction. Disney is currently in the process of building up the greenery around this area to hide it from the public eye.
That’s everything for now! We’ll continue to keep a watch on these projects and let you know what we find in the coming weeks and months. The EPCOT transformation is set to be complete before the end of 2023, and we can’t wait to check it out!

Disney just dropped NEW info on all that we can expect from EPCOT’s International Flower and Garden Festival in 2023, and we were NOT disappointed. Of course, the food and drink options are super exciting, but we’re excited about the merchandise options, too!
Disney introduced two NEW pieces of merchandise that will be available at this year’s Flower and Garden Festival! Plus, we found a hint of a new Loungefly backpack coming online to shopDisney.
First, Disney showed us this new Orange Bird Munchling, modeled after a Citrus-infused Cupcake with Honey! Isn’t it adorable?! It will be available at EPCOT during the festival as well as online at shopDisney SOON!
Disney also showed off this Orange Bird Sipper, which includes a non-alcoholic orange-lemon smoothie that you can grab from The Citrus Blossom food kitchen — located at The Odyssey pavilion in EPCOT. This year’s sipper is a slight variation from the ones we’ve seen in years past.
On shopDisney this morning, we saw a teaser of some NEW Flower and Garden merchandise that will be available to buy online starting March 3rd. The image showed an Orange Bird Loungefly backpack, complete with a flower crown. Mark your calendars and get excited!

New Menu Items
As we mentioned above, this year’s Festival comes with a TON of new eats, here are just a few of them!
Over at the Funnel Cake stand near the American Adventure pavilion you’ll find a NEW creation called the Banana Split Funnel Cake! This will have a Funnel Cake topped with Banana-Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, Diced Strawberries, and a Maraschino Cherry drizzled with Chocolate Syrup.
At the NEW Brunchcot booth, you’ll find a Lox Benedict on Everything Focaccia with everything-spiced cream cheese, shallots, crispy capers, and hollandaise, as well as a new Peach Bellini.
At The Citrus Blossom (which will have a new location in The Odyssey), you’ll find 3 NEW dishes:

Returning Favorites
We’ve also got plenty of returning favorites this year! At Refreshment Outpost, the Lavender Martini is BACK (it has Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka with Lavender and Lemon). It was at Refreshment Port last time but we’re happy to see it has returned.
At Bauernmarkt, the Stiegl Brewery Radler Raspberry is back this year as well. Light and fruity, this was a highlight from 2022 so we’re thrilled to see it’s back.
At La Isla Fresca, the plant-based Coconut Tres Leches will be making a return appearance. Made with a Vanilla cake soaked in oat milk, almond milk, and coconut milk with toasted coconut, this was one of the BEST items we had in 2022, so it’s one you won’t want to miss this year.
Other returning favorites include the Fried Cinnamon Roll Bites at Brunchcot (previously at Sunshine Griddle), Shrimp and Grits at Brunchcot (also previously at Sunshine Griddle), Avocado Toast at Brunchcot (also formerly at Sunshine Griddle), and the Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade at Pineapple Promenade.
Prices for these items have not yet been revealed but we’ll be searching for updates soon!

Betty Boop Store Sign Removed in Universal Studios Florida, Possibly For Illumination Avenue Re-theme
Universal Studios Florida is undergoing a lot of changes lately and there seems to be construction everywhere you turn. From KidZone getting a rumored DreamWorks makeover to the front of the park being taken over by the Minions and Illumination Avenue, there’s no denying this park will look very different in just a few short years. Now, the Betty Boop sign above the Silver Screen store in Universal Studios Florida has been removed, possibly because the store will become part of the new Illumination Avenue inspired by Minions.
The store is right next to the future entrance to Villain-Con Minion Blast. The Silver Screen Snacks stand on the other side of it was recently demolished.
Though construction walls wrap around the street corner and in front of the store, it remains open.
Awnings that previously featured images of the icon and the words “Betty Boop” have been replaced by solid gray ones. The Betty Boop artwork from the windows has been replaced with a generic blue Universal sign. The final piece to be removed was the small sign over the doorway. A gray spot and hardware remain where the sign featuring Betty Boop previously hung above the entrance.
Here’s a look at the entrance back in November when it was fully themed to Betty Boop. It’s pretty clear that Betty Boop is slowly fading away.
Here’s a better look at the sign. Betty Boop winks and blows a kiss.
It’s possible the store will be re-themed completely, but it is still unclear at this time. The Hello Kitty Store in this area is also being slowly un-themed while it remains open.
Right now, this area of the park is called Production Central, but at least part of it will become Illumination Avenue with the opening of Villain-Con Minion Blast and Minion Café.
Our photo above from last week shows where the sign was, but you can see the themed awnings had already been switched out at this point.
The inside of the store is still themed to Betty Boop and full of Betty Boop merchandise. For now.
Universal’s Islands of Adventure also has a Betty Boop store which is set to become the new UOAP Lounge.
We’ll be watching and waiting to see what happens to this store, so be sure to stay tuned. What do you think of the potential removal of Betty Boop from the Silver Screen store at Universal Studios Florida?
