A notice was sent out to all Walt Disney World guests a few minutes ago that tonight’s 8:00p.m. performance of “Fantasmic!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been cancelled.
Guests across Walt Disney World received the following notice on their My Disney Experience app a short while ago.
It reads “Important Entertainment Update We would like to apologize that the 8:00 PM presentation of “Fantasmic!” has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
A reason or explanation was not given. Technical issues are a frequent culprit for show cancellations. The show is also prone to cancellations due to being held outside and the temperamental nature of weather in Florida, although no extreme weather is currently forecast in the area.
As of press, the 9:30 p.m. presentation of “Fantasmic!” is still scheduled at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Stay tuned as this story develops.

Sad news for fans of 1900 Park Fare, the character dining buffet location at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will remain closed for refurbishment.
Incidentally, chairs from 1900 Park Fare are actually currently being used at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom, while the latter has their usual chairs repaired.
Reportedly, when now-former CEO Bob Chapek took over the Parks & Resorts division in 2015, he felt that the Grand Floridian was not up to standards. The comparisons to a Four Seasons didn’t befit the current state of Walt Disney World, and so it was no longer suitable as the flagship resort. But rather than shift focus to another resort hotel, the company decided to make changes.
Designed for fans of Saturday Night Live, fans of Disney Animation might want to take a listen to David Spade and Dana Carvey’s Fly on the Wall podcast where a listener’s question reveals a bit of information about the origins of The Emperor’s New Groove. Although the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts has come to an end as of yesterday, a visit to the park today revealed a surprise — the beloved Figment popcorn bucket is still available in a new location!
A stroll past the Imagination Pavilion popcorn cart revealed our purple dragon pal has escaped both his attraction and the Odyssey Pavilion where the bucket was sold this year. He’s still available with the EPCOT40 strap for $25 along with the 50th Anniversary bucket, and there was a small but tolerable queue to bring him home.
The beloved purple dragon debuted to pandemonium and insanely long lines when the Figment popcorn bucket exploded in popularity during the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. Guests waited up to seven hours to score one of the beloved treat collectibles, leading to Disney ultimately requiring guests to mobile order the collectible. This requirement returned this year for part of the festival, but the hype? Not so much. While he did sell out on the first day, stocks were replenished quickly. Near the festival’s end, Disney lifted the mobile order requirement, and now it seems they may have in fact over-ordered as he’s being sold past the festival’s end.
There’s no word on how long Disney will offer the Figment popcorn bucket past the end of the 2023 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, so if you still haven’t been able to bring one home, now’s your best chance!
Will you rush down to EPCOT for a Figment popcorn bucket? Let us know in the comments below!

There are all kinds of events that take place at Disney World. You might be familiar with their Christmas celebrations and Halloween festivities, but there are OTHER special events that take place that you may have NEVER heard of.
Mardi Gras took place on February 21st, 2023, and French Quarter went ALL-IN on the celebration! We were able to see some of the festivities in the afternoon, but we want to thank our friend Krista (@disneykismet on Instagram) for sharing some of her photos of the celebration with us!
Let’s Celebrate!
The place to go for all things Mardi Gras is Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts. Here, guests can sample delicious treats, listen to jazz music, and enjoy other festive events at Riverside and French Quarter.
Don’t Forget About the Music
The centerpiece of the event is the golf cart parade, which winds through Port Orleans Resort — Riverside and French Quarter. But this isn’t your ordinary, run-of-the-mill parade; the “floats” are made of decorated golf carts, each one put together by Cast Members!
How Cool Is That?!
This tradition began over ten years ago and can take weeks or months to put together. Each year the parade has a central theme for them to follow, and this year the theme is “The Legacy of Walt Disney World Resorts,” a fitting choice for a year full of anniversary celebrations.
Polynesian Village Resort-themed float
Several of the golf carts have been decorated to represent different Disney World resorts. Cast Members from across Port Orleans Resort are involved in the parade, but this year’s theme gave them a chance to show their love for other Disney resorts! Check out this amazing float inspired by the Wilderness Lodge.
An impressive float inspired by the Wilderness Lodge!
It’s even more amazing on video!
This float from the Mardi Gras parade at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter has a secret…it’s a model of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, but can you guess what the secret is?
New to the festivities this year is the ability for guests to take photos with the floats at the end of the parade and meet the Cast Members that created these masterpieces.
How Amazing Are These?!
Also, the riverboat connecting Riverside and French Quarter has been specially decorated for the day, so keep an eye out for that!
Aside from the parade, fans can also pick up some drinks and snacks to celebrate Mardi Gras.
Snacks
We spotted a King Cake and a special beignet.

Disney shares that there is a special Mardi Gras pin available for purchase as well.
Here’s a full look at the schedule of festivities so you know what to plan for in upcoming years.

Later in the afternoon, we spotted Tiana meeting guests at the hotel.

And there you have it, a special celebration you might have NEVER realized takes place in Disney World!
