The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is unexpectedly closed at Magic Kingdom, with black curtains blocking the entrance.
It’s not unusual for PeopleMover to sometimes go down during the day, but the curtains suggest it won’t be opening today at all and may remain closed for longer. Cast Members said the closure was due to “maintenance issues.” The nearby Astro Orbiters was also temporarily closed due to the same issues.
In early 2020, the PeopleMover closed (unrelated to COVID-19), and it remained closed for over a year, finally reopening in April 2021. Hopefully, whatever work needs to be done on the PeopleMover now will be quick, and we’ll only be without the iconic attraction for a day or two.
Last summer, the PeopleMover received a new narration track featuring the return of ORAC, “the commuter computer,” and tons of Tomorrowland references. A few weeks later, the attraction got new entrance signs, including a WED reference.
