Despite being scheduled for refurbishment today, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is still open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The closure has been pushed back until tomorrow.
The ride originally appeared on My Disney Experience as “closed for refurbishment” this morning, but that changed once the park began admitting guests.
We visited the park this morning to confirm the delay. No reason has been given for moving the closure to tomorrow, but Cast Members suspect its due to the holiday weekend. With high crowd levels, leadership may have decided to postpone the closure to allow for more capacity at the park.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was recently restored to full capacity to help accommodate more guests while Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is closed.
It is scheduled to reopen in the summer. Disney did not announce details about the refurbishment, but it would likely only include general maintenance, not any changes to the actual experience. However, this could change following the lawsuit against Tyler. Were Disney to remove Tyler and Aerosmith from the ride, it could potentially extend the refurbishment.
