A push cart in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been turned into recycling bins for unwanted Droid Depot custom droid boxes.
Signs on the side of the cart tell guests they can “dispose of unwanted droid boxes here.”
Guests can build their own custom droids at Droid Depot and they come home in a hexagonal box.
The holes on top of the new recycling cans are hexagonal shaped so the boxes fit perfectly without having to be folded up.
For reference, here’s a Droid Depot box. They can be convenient for transporting your astromech, but guests who purchase a carrying bag or just want to use their droid immediately may not want to carry the cumbersome box.
According to Cast Members, the new cart is to keep the boxes from taking up space in regular-sized trash and recycling cans and to make recycling the boxes easier.
The cart is right outside the door that leads out of Droid Depot’s build-your-own-droid experience.
In news that will shock no one, guests are already having issues with the bins and are throwing other garbage away in them. Perhaps a label near the top will solve this?
