*NEW* Chicken Schnitzel with Käsespätzle – $9.99
fried chicken thigh cutlet served with baked spätzle and beer cheese sauce
This greasy hunk of fried chicken is much like the “famous fried chicken” at Bavarian tourist towns across the country: overpriced and average. The beer cheese almost redeems the dish; it’s very rich and creamy, but the spätzle is overcooked. Skip this.
*NEW* Potato Pancakes – $6.49
crispy potato and parsnip pancake with apple butter and sour cream
The thinness of the pancake is good, but we weren’t fans of the parsnip on the back end, and there was too much apple butter.
Reissdorf – $13.75 for 20 oz. single serve, $13.25 for 12 oz. souvenir cup, or $16.25 for 20 oz. souvenir cup
light brew with minty, hop aromas; sweet vanilla malt flavors, and a crisp, dry, cedary finish
Warsteiner Pilsener (ABV 4.8%) – $12 for 20 oz. single serve, $12 for 12 oz. souvenir cup, or $15 for 20 oz. souvenir cup
pale golden pilsner with a clean, refreshing taste balanced with hints of barley malt, yeast tones, and mild hoppy bitterness
Weihenstephaner Helles (ABV 4.8%) – $11
easy drinking with full flavor, light body, and clean, crisp finish
Tucher Helles Hefe Weizen (ABV 5.35%) – $11
From Carlsberg: “A wheat beer like the Franks like to drink it. The in-house ‘Sapienza master yeast’ as well as the Bagou wheat malt and barley malt give this beer its aromatic character: tingling lemon in the beginning with a full-bodied banana and kiwi note, long-lasting freshness and sparkling in the finish.“
Gaffel Kolsch (ABV 4.8%) – $11
From Gaffel: “This superb beer, Cologne‘s finest, is pure, clear, and light. It is delightfully refreshing, made from specially selected hops and barley making it most agreeable and supremely drinkable. By maintaining the oldest brewing method, we ensure the distinct fragrance and aromatic flavor which distinguishes ‚Kölsch‘ from other beers, and which has made it popular among beer connoisseurs.”
Ayinger Celebrator (ABV 6.7%) – $11.25
From Ayinger: “A beer that has a dominant malty taste. This beer’s origins in a monk’s recipe are reflected in its heartiness.”
The Germany booth has nothing worth your time or money. Skip this and head elsewhere.
Universal’s Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval runs from February 4 through April 16.
