Mardi Gras is later this month, and to celebrate, there is a new Berry Beignet available at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort! Come see what we thought.
Beignets are a traditional donut made famous in New Orleans. They are very basic; fried dough covered in powdered sugar. We stopped by the New Orleans-themed moderate resort at Walt Disney World, Port Orleans French Quarter, to give this Disney version a try.
You can find these beignets at Scat Cat’s Club Lounge. When you enter the lobby of the resort, Scat Cat’s can be found to the left.
Berry Beignet with Whiskey Pipette — $9.00
Mickey-shaped beignet with fresh mixed berry compote, house-made Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Premium Whiskey caramel sauce, mint, and powdered sugar.
The Berry Beignet is offered with or without the pipette of Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch whiskey.
We ordered it with the optional whiskey pipette. It’s also worth noting that because we chose the alcoholic option, the beignet we received was just a square rather than the Mickey-shaped one shown in the photo.
The beignet itself was perfect. Soft and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. You couldn’t really taste the whiskey caramel sauce on top of it, though. The mixed berry compote you could tell was fresh, and the mint leaves were a nice touch of flavor. That alone tasted very refreshing.
We ordered it with a house made Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey pipette. Once we got to the areas that were soaked in whiskey, the whiskey flavor completely took over and made the beignet soggy. While we would recommend this Berry Beignet, next time, we would skip the whiskey pipette.
Will you make a trip to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort to try this beignet? Let us know in the comments.
