The upcoming Spring 2023 “Disney twenty-three” magazine will feature on its cover the highly anticipated TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction at Walt Disney World. In addition, fans will also read about the Disney100: The Exhibition opening on February 18 at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, two upcoming Marvel Films “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
In addition, there is a roundup of “some of the cute and not-so-cuddly current residents at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; a journey through 40 years of Tokyo Disney Resort with a look ahead to its future; a toon-tastic tour of the exhibit highlighting Mickey Mouse’s illustrious career featured in the queue for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland Park in California; and a visit to Penny Proud’s princess party with a Disney twist on ‘The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.’”
The issue highlights the debut of the TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction presented by Enterprise in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Set to open to guests on April 4, 2023, the attraction picks up from where “TRON: Legacy” left off, with Kevin’s son Sam Flynn having opened a second gateway into the digital world called the Grid. The first portal was established at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run.
“In an exclusive interview, Chris Beatty, Portfolio Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering, prepares readers to be digitized, revealing the story and excitement that await guests,” according to press notes. “’We wanted to make sure TRON Lightcycle / Run is fun and thrilling and delivers on the heart and soul of TRON and the excitement of racing on the Grid,” states Beatty.
The feature article will uncover for readers how the Disney Imagineering team fulfilled their promise through an action-packed race, cutting-edge technology, a new soundtrack, and elements from the films.
Also, the Spring 2023 issue will discuss the upcoming Disney100: The Exhibition, opening in two weeks in Philadelphia. The exhibit, which will run through August 27, 2023, at Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute, takes guests on an immersive journey through Disney’s storytelling legacy.
“This exhibition celebrates everything from 1923, when we first started, up to what’s coming up in the next year, stated Cline. “There are ten galleries in this exhibition and each one represents one of Walt’s philosophies.”
Six of the galleries, along with renderings, were unveiled today, including Where It All Began, Where Do The Stories Come From, Sources of Inspiration, The Nautilus Window, and Your Disney World: A Day in the Parks.
This one-of-a-kind exhibition “with a behind-the-scenes look at the themed galleries, innovative technology, and rarely-seen treasures from the Walt Disney Archives’ vault that offer new perspectives on these beloved stories.”
Marvel fans will get a preview of two upcoming Marvel films – Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” in theatres on February 17, and Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, opening this May.
“As readers take the leap into the Quantum Realm, stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man) and Jonathan Majors (Kang the Conqueror), as well as director Peyton Reed, share big details about this microscopic universe. As Rudd tells ‘Disney twenty-three,’ ‘This movie is bigger in every way and will play an important part in what’s going to follow in the MCU.’”
The final chapter of Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3“ features new and returning cast members, including Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Will Poulter (Adam Warlock), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis). They will give readers a “first look at what’s in store for this motley crew of misfits as they finally find their ‘place in the universe.’” They will also divulge their experience filming the final chapter of the Guardians’ story and hint at the emotional journey that awaits.
Included with the magazine will be a Disney 100th anniversary Mickey Mouse “Leader of the Club” Milestone Statue magnet. The image is the same as the Milestone Statue, which will be shipped separately.
D23 Gold Members will also be receiving a “platinum” Mickey Mouse “Leader of the Club” Milestone Statue designed by James Fauntleroy. It will begin shipping in spring 2023, as well as a choice of membership card designs.
