Recently, we got digitized and sent into the grid!
Yes, we got to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run in Disney World, thanks to being invited by a Cast Member for the Cast Member previews of the ride. We learned SO MUCH about the ride, like exactly how the locker system work, how the seats feel, and more. But one detail may surprise you more than anything!
Okay, so we’re going to share our full ride through video with you, so you can get an idea of what we’re talking about. WARNING: there are spoilers so keep scrolling if you don’t want to see yet!

Now look at how long that video is — it comes in at one minute and 25 seconds, but if you watch it, the full ride lasts a little over a minute from the initial launch through the end where it slows down right before you get off the ride. That is SHORT. Our reporters who rode compared it to the length of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
We shouldn’t be too surprised because the runtime for the original version of the ride in Shanghai is about the same length, and this ride is basically the same. Of course, the entire experience begins once you walk through into the Blue Team area and are “digitized and enter the Grid.” So you could see all that as part of the ride experience, too.
But the actual ride is relatively short. It is PRETTY COOL, though, even if you ride it from the adaptive seats (there are adaptive seats on some of the ride trains for those who can’t comfortably ride the Lightcycle seats). The launch goes from 0 to 59mph FAST and that offers quite a thrill for coaster fans.
If you’re looking for even more information about TRON Lightcycle / Run, we covered EVERYTHING you need to know about the attraction here. TRON Lightcycle / Run opens to the general public on April 4th in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland.
Guests will only be able to ride the attraction via virtual queue (which is free to get a boarding pass for) or by buying the Individual Lightning Lane (pay-per-ride) option for it. So you’ll want to keep that in mind as lines will probably be long for it — is a minute-long ride worth keeping you from other attractions with shorter lines? That’s up to you!
We’ll be at TRON Lightcycle / Run’s opening day, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!
