The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has returned to full capacity a week before Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster next door closes for a long refurbishment.
Beginning in February 2022, one of the two drop elevator shafts (and the two smaller shafts connected to it that riders go up first) was closed for refurbishment. All of the shafts returned to operation for the summer, then the other drop shaft closed for refurbishment in November 2022. Now both are open and fully operational.
This is just in time for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to close for refurbishment, ensuring as many guests as possible can ride a thrill ride during their Disney’s Hollywood Studios trip and Sunset Boulevard won’t get too crowded.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will close on February 20 for a months-long closure. An exact reopening date has not been announced. The refurbishment is expected to be standard TLC although it’s possible there could be bigger changes in light of the sexual assault lawsuit filed against Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
