VIDEO: See the Disney Parade That Only Happens ONCE a Year!

The Disney parks have been home to MANY parades over the years.

Some parades are very common and happen every single day. Other parades are rare and might only happen during certain holiday periods. But there’s one parade in particular that you may have NEVER seen because it only happens ONCE each year (and it changes every single time it happens!).

You’re probably familiar with the iconic phrase “I’m going to Disneyland!” or (sometimes) “I’m going to Disney World!” It’s long been a tradition for an NFL player to, after winning the Super Bowl, utter those iconic words and then make a trip to the Happiest or Most Magical Place on Earth. Did you know the tradition actually began back in 1987 with New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms? Well, now you know!

Again, sometimes this tradition takes place in Disney World, and sometimes it’s Disneyland’s turn to celebrate. In 2023, it was Disneyland’s turn to welcome the Super Bowl champs. After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl in Arizona, Patrick Mahomes (the Chief’s quarterback) was the lucky player who uttered the words “I’m Going to Disneyland!” That phrase is now at the center of Disney’s annual Super Bowl commercial.

And visit Disneyland he did! Patrick Mahomes actually got to visit Disneyland with his family (including his newborn child) earlier in the day!

Mahomes visited the Disneyland Resort during the Disney100 Celebration less than 24 hours after the Kansas City Chiefs victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. But the fun didn’t end there. It’s not every day that you win a Super Bowl, so Disney marks the occasion with a special cavalcade (a.k.a. small parade). The cavalcade went through Main Street, U.S.A. at 1:30PM PT and we made it in time to catch a glimpse! There were plenty of fans lined up along the streets with their Kansas City Chiefs gear on, ready to cheer on their team.

Grab a Seat!

The parade began with a banner welcoming the Super Bowl champs.

Welcome!

Then, there were some cheerleaders in a variety of vibrantly colored shirts with their pom poms cheering on the team.

Getting Ready!

Behind them were some Disney characters and then FINALLY Chiefs fans got to wave to Patrick Mahomes as he stood on top of the parade float with Mickey and Minnie nearby!

There He Is!

It’s a really unique parade since it only happens once each year, doesn’t always happen in the same spot, and changes depending on the winning team and what player attends the parade. That makes it particularly special compared to other more “standard” parades.

What do you think? Would you make a special trip out to Disneyland (or Disney World) to see a Super Bowl parade if your favorite team won? Have you ever seen one of these parades? Tell us in the comments!
