What are Your Hopes for the New Area of Animal Kingdom?

Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A. has been on its last legs for several years, finally receiving its eviction notice at the 2022 D23 convention when a vague conversation began about replacing this area. Under the pretext of a “what if” scenario, Disney shared concept art and ideas with Disney fans, spiking our curiosity about what would be coming to the area. Moana and Zootopia are among the themes that appear in the concept art of the DinoLand replacement, though no timeline has been confirmed.

Disney Concept Art

DinoLand was introduced to park guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 1998, taking on a weird Dinosaur/carnival theme that never really made sense. The rides deteriorated and appeared to lack the same refurbishment care focused on other attractions around the park, leading fans to believe this land was doomed many years ago. The remodel has been several years in the making, with only two attractions still open in this semi-functioning corner of Disney’s fourth Florida-based park.

Today I thought doing some armchair Imagineering might be fun and discussing what we hope might be included in the area. The appearance of a Moana-themed flume log ride excites me, as this is one of my favorite Disney stories so far. However, there is so much more they could do to incorporate the characters Hei Hei, Pua, and even the Kakamoras into the Animal theme of the park.

What are you hoping to see replace DinoLand in the new area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
